Go in to the user menu and find where the Auto Channel Setup is located. You can consult the instruction booklet for your TV set. Try this and see if it works. If it does not then there are a number of areas in the set where there can be some defective components.

The tuner is controled by the uPC system. There are a number of interface circuits involved for the channel control. Problems in these areas can cause the channels to not be able to be changed.

Can't change channels stuck on 4 tried scanning it but it goes back to 4

There could be a few possibilities for this .:
  • Change the "Input" setting on the TV to "AV" or "VIDEO". There is probably an "INPUT" button on the remote.
  • Find the TV/VIDEO mode on your tv or check the back of the cable box where your cables screw into the unit. There is normally a switch to select an output for channel 3 or channel 4. Your's would be on 3. It's just a matter of switching to 4 to make it work on your tv. More info on this here:

The disc is stuck in the player and the tv screen says it cannot get a signal.

Barbara, your dvd player needs to be either on channel 3 or 4. If you have a local channel 3 or 4 switch it to the one that is not local. Or it could be a video 1,2 or 3. Just keep using the remote in that format and you will find the signal.

My mintek dtv-373-d is stuck on encrypted channela nd will not do anything else. I can't get the menu to come up or anything to change. help

I'm assuming you have Cablevision. This is becoming a known problem with their broadcasting system. They have been upgrading and it has been causing the TVs to freeze up on a specific channel .

Simple way to fix it:
1. Unplug tv
2. Unplug coax from tv
3. Plug tv back in
4. In the Menu go to Setup > CH setup > CH Memory > Cable (digital)
5. Enable channel skip for channel that it is currently stuck on
6. Push Menu to exit
7. Change to any other channel
8. Reconnect coax to tv.

Followup:
Avoid this channel and go give Cablevision a call and let them know about it. They won't do anything to fix it until they get a certain number of reported issues about the problem

Sony KV-20S40 stuck on channel fix

I have just got a kv-20s43 and your best bet is to try to restore settings, here, To reset TV to factory settings, turn the TV on, Then, while pressing the reset button on the remote control, press POWER on the TV. The TV will turn itself off, then back on, the original settings wiill be restored... definition: ch. fix- 2-6: Select when you want to control all channel selection through a cable box. Select the appropriate channel(usually 3 or 4) and use the cable box's remote control for channel selection. VIDEO: select from available inputs when you have connected video equipment and you want your TV fixed to it.

TV Stuck on 1 channel

We would be happy to help get that fixed right away. The first thing we want to ensure is that all connected equipment is on. We want to then check what type of cable was used to connect the TV to the receiver. If you are using a Coax Cable to connect the receiver to TV1, check the receiver's back panel for the output name. If your receiver has a "TV CH 3/4 out": Tune TV to channel 3 or channel 4, back if it is labeled "Home Distribution": Tune TV to channel 62 or 75. If using non-Coax (RCA, Component, or HDMI) to connect receiver to TV1, cycle through the inputs until picture appears; Most TVs have a "TV/Video", "Input", or "Source" button. If we are still not getting a picture then unplug receiver for 10 seconds then plug it back in, this will reset the receiver, then try cycling the inputs again.

We hope these steps resolve the issue. We want to thank you for being a valued DISH Network customer!

Tivo won't change my TV Channels anymore with direct cable

I re-did the guided setup in the Tivo under Messages & Settings/Restart-Reset System/Restart menu section in Tivo. Once I did that, it cleared this issue, even though I didn't have to change any of my settings thru this guided setup. I tried a reset alone first, but that did not fix it. Only this fixed it. We had lost both power and cable during a recent tree fall in a storm, and when both were restored, this problem started. I have a cable coax directly in the back of the TV (no cable box/IR etc) and the system is on a home wireless network. I actually have 2 identical Tivo's in the house set up the same way but only one had this problem. The other worked no different after the outage.

TV gets stuck on channel, won't advance past channel 7.1

Try doing the Channel Search again. See if that helps.

If not, sounds like the Digital Board could be defective. Since this TV is brand new suggest calling your local sharp authorized service center to replace that board under warranty.

1996 RCA Color TV model G27720tn

If you are on cable, first run the cable wire from the wall directly to the TV, eliminating any cable box and/or VCR. If channel 2 is snowy but the rest (especially 3-6) are clear, it is most certainly a cable problem and not a TV problem. The TV uses the exact same circuits for channel 2 to 6 (VHF-LOW) so if the tuner was bad and 2 was snowy, 3, 4, 5 and 6 would be snowy too. Bring a second TV into that room, disconnect the cable wire from the RCA and connect it to the second TV. Is channel 2 on the second TV as snowy as it was on the RCA?
