I have the exact same problem with my Kenmore 800 top loader, Model # 110.29822800. It is only 1.5 years old. Any suggestions?

Water is leaking from the bottom. Is it a belt?

This advise is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet front loader washers and dryers with a Control Lock problem.

This may or may not be an indication of a serious problem. In the majority of the cases, this is a simple operator error. Nearly all these model appliances have some sort of Control Lock feature on the front panel now. This is a designed safety feature that is used to prevent small children from manipulating the controls. The controls can be easily locked or unlocked by pressing and holding the following button on the front panel:

Whirlpool Duet Washer - Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds.

Whirlpool Duet Dryer - Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds.

Kenmore Elite Washer - Press and hold the DRAIN/SPIN button for 3 seconds.

Kenmore Elite Dryer - Press and hold the AUTO DRY LEVEL button for 3 seconds.

These instructions may not be all inclusive for all Kenmore and Whirlpool models, but they are the most common. Chances are, if you have a Control Lock feature, the instructions will be printed on the front panel adjacent to the button that is required to lock or unlock the controls.

NOTE: These instructions may also work for newer model Maytag, Hotpoint, Admiral and Fridgidaire model front loaders as well. Refer to your owner's manual or front panel for instructions pertaining to your sepcific model.

If the Control Lock feature will not lock or unlock the appliance, unplugging the unit for AT LEAST 30 minutes is recommended in order to reset the main control board. In many cases this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches.

If this is a Kenmore TOP LOADER, you need to remove the exterior cabinet in order to access the washer interior and sufficiently inspect to determine where your leak may be coming from. This is much easier than it sounds. The following link explains how:

In the majority of cases with a top loader, the water pump begins to leak. These pumps are not serviceable and require replacing if damaged. The following link explains how:

i believe your water pump is the problem.

It most likely is the coupler. It is located between the motor and the transmission. It is an easy repair and only costs around 20 dollars. To change it out simply unplug the washer and tip it back so you can work under it. The first thing you will see is the pump. Take off the two clamps with a flat head screw driver and move it to the side. Do not take off the hoses unless you want water everywhere. Next you will see the motor. The motor is held up by two clamps. The clamps have 2 screws in each one. Remove the screws and with your flat head pop off the clamps. Make sure you hold the motor cause when you take off that first clamp the motor will drop. The motor coupling will come off with it. Put your new one on, (it only goes on one way) and put everything back together again. You will be up and running good as new in no time again. how old iss your washer? do you have an owners manual. because usually there is an extended factory warrenty on the tub and basket. the only thing you would have to pay for would be the labor. Call whirlpool if you do not have a owners manual to find out. the bearing is compressed in the tub. does it sound like an airplain taking off in your house that's usually it.

your agitator dogs are stripped there about $10.00,remove cap to replace. easy,need 1/2 to 3/8 adapter or 7/16 socket depending on model. and your coupler is broken about $20.00 its what runs yous washer its like your belt under neath between motor and transmission , less cloths max water will stop it from happening again

with putty knife press in along front edge between top and front about 2-3 ins from outer edges on release clips top will lift up suspect bad lock assembly
