WTF!
I am attempting to record home movies on a VHS to DVD. Every time the small segment switches I get this damn error! How do I turn this off so I can finish recording my home movies without stopping everytime a segment changes to something else???
If I can't are there any REAL VHS to DVD combo recorders that will do the job?

If you mean burn a movie from the HDD to a DVD. It will only let you do this once.

You need to go into the set up menu and select recording options. On the recording options menu, scroll down to dubbing options. On the dubbing options menu select either VCR to DVD or DVD to VCR.
Recording and Dubbing are not the exactly the same thing. You use the record buttons to record TV directly to VCR/DVD you use the dubbing buttons and set up to record DVD to VCR or VCR to DVD.
Hope this helps.

Are you using AV cables (Red, Yellow, White).
One of your AV cable connections may loose or disconnected.
I hope this solution is helpful. Please remember to rate this solution.
SOURCE: When I try dubbing from VCR to DVD the machine
The DVD AGG (automatic gain control) is somehow being fooled into thinking the non-commercial tape has macrovision (copy protection). Is this a relatively inexpensive machine?

The same thing keeps happening to me...grrrrrrrrrrr...I will let you know if I find a solution, and hope you would do the same.
Thanks
I have same problem with homemade video tapes. I even contacted Magnavox and they were no help other than to say that as tapes age, the color signal messes up and sets off the "Macrovision Copy Protection" within the machine and apparently there is no way to turn it off. You can try using something called Sima GODVD for getting around this problem. I've seen them on ebay for about 100 bucks or less. But I don't know about quality as I don't have one of these yet.
