Not reading anymore DVD movies disc or CD musics disc. The DVD laser eye head reader it is dead. Can't be repair must be replaced, not worth it well cost the same price as a new DVD player unit,if repair by a tech and have to buy parts for it.Basic DVD player unit are very cheap these day.U can buy a new one just a basic DVD player only will cost u like $40.
What format are you recording in?If the recorder is set for DVD +R, and your playback machine won't read the disc, you may need to record on a DVD-R, or a DVD +-R. Or vice-versa. Some DVDRW discs will record on one machine and won't play on another. The media are incompatible.
Another problem - if you are copying a copy-protected disc, it might not play back either.
Are you sure you are finalizing the disc? This process takes 4-5 minutes and requires two or three responses sometime.
You might try taking the cover off and then VERY GENTLY use a q-tip swab to brush off the laser lens. Sometimes a little dust or dirt is enough to keep it from detecting the disc.
I called Sony, a different company and they will get back to me if they have anything compatable with this Cyberhome 1600 DVD Player (A Laser Pick Up Assembly), which by the way has the worst reviews known to man! I wish I had known this before I laid my money on the line!(smile)!
It sounds like you need a firmware update but it may be too late now that Cyberhome is out of business. I suggest you buy a better unit but if you have some unfinalized or unreadable discs you want to try and recover I have instructions on how to do that on a PC that may be of help.
