Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct your problem. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them. And am guessing that your lens may be crooked from the fall, so you may need to progress to Fix 7b first to straighten it before proceeding with the others. Good luck!

My Nikon 50-300mm f4.5 lens is stuck at 50mm and will not zoom

There could be several reasons for this. It could have been dropped or damaged in some way, the lubricant may have dried, or something else might have happened. Take the lens to a good camera store and have them do a CLA (clean-lube-adjust) on it.

Zoom lens is stuck on my camera

Hey, my husband just fixed it! You just wiggle/bend the zoom lens, and you feel a "pop", and then the zoom retracts and you're fine! I was afraid to "break" it, but someone on vacation had the same problem and told him this solution a few weeks ago. So don't be afraid to use a little force-at least, in our case, it worked! Good luck.

Zoom error

worked on allot of fuji's. first detease, a gear is slipping in the lens retract assembly due to a crack or wear or jam

2nd guest .. zoom errors means its really stuck tight

the gears can be ordered and replaced and one more possibility is that the motor that drives the gear is bad
Also if dropped or zoom lens jammed hard... lens assembly needs total realignment or replacing..

Zoom error

look for a tiny pinhole and insert a pin while powered up to reset...if this does not work, if you get to the point to see any electric motor, then apply a battery powered set of jumper wires to the motor to manually run the zoom back and forth. start with one battery (1.5 volts) only!

The lens on your camera has become stuck due to being dropped, contamination such as sand, or a malfunction within the lens. If gently manipulating the lens itself does not free it then you will need to get it professionally repaired or replace the camera. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

Zoom and shutter not functioning

that is a symptom of being dropped and stuck in a mode.
it requires total dissemble of the camera to fix or replace the lens. your lucky it takes pictures at all. most cameras refuse if the lens is stuck.
