Went to turn on JVC LT-42X579 and got a blinking blue light after a moment, but tv never turned on . we have unplugged it for 12+ hrs and got the same results.
SOURCE: Blue light
Okay, I found a fix! Called JVC, spoke to somebody there, here it is:
1)unplug the TV completely, no wall no power strips, completely
2)wait 10 sec
3)plug TV back in and Turn it on, the light will still be doing the same thing
4)wait 30 sec
5)ON THE TV, not the remote, locate the menu, volume (-) and power button.
6)while simultaneously holding down the menu and volume (-) button, pressed the power button ONCE and continue to hold the other 2 for 10 sec.
7)on the remote control, go to menu>settings>system info
*** now this I know as a FACT will work on systems that display: JVC - ver.5.32FO001, but I don't know of any other versions***
8)press the mute button on the remote twice
9)unplugg TV again and wait 10 sec.
10) plug TV in and turn on
It SHOULD be working normally now... Thanx to the guys a JVC support for this one, I know it seems like an obvious first place to look, but sometimes it isn't. I for one checked online forums first.

A firmware update might fix it. Call an authorized servicer, explain the symptom.

I would take it in to be serviced. It may need a control board. Just to bad there is only 1 year warranty. You should get 3 to 5 years out of any LCD TV. Some are made cheaper than others. Good Luck.
Testimonial: "I purchased a 3-yr extended warranty on it so it's covered. Someone came, spent 2 min just looking then said they ordered a part (power board?)for it"

Failing power supply can be one of the causes.

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.
