Look inside the card compartment to check for broken or bent pins. Have you tried formatting the card in the camera? This will erase it so download any pictures first using a card reader if necessary.

I assume you mean one of the pins inside the camera body itself? This is quite a common problem and I believe it will have to be dealt with by a Canon Repair Centre. However it is not the end of the camera and is worth having done although I cannot say what the are charging at this time.

If your camera uses a compact flash card, then something is wrong with it. Possible causes: card needs formatting in camera (this will erase it) one or more pins inside camera are bent. Card was erased or formatted on computer instead of camera.

format the card. original canon or sandisk works fine.

Check pins where goes CF card they might be bent or broken

Using a flashlight, check thru the CF memory card reader if there are some pins that are bent, missing (broken) or damaged.

If this is the case, it is necessary to have serviced the camera to replace such pins, and inspectd for the broken pin pieces that may be stuck inside the camera, and cause later a short circuit.

If all the pins are in good conditions, may be the internal memory reader circuitry is failing, which requires also a professional camera repair service.


If it's under warranty, I do recommend you to send it back to make valid the warranty.

If not, then you have the options of pay for its repair, or do it yourself if you are willing to open it and perform the steps to repair it.

If so, You will need tools to do it, which includes the usage of a soldering iron, microscope (since requires micro soldering), and buy the CF memory card reader connector..

Try different cf card see if it works.
Next if that worked or not take cf card place in computer & format card. Retry in camera.
