DVD not playing message say H02

We are unable to use the DVD as the following message comes up on the screen. "HO2". We have had a look in the manual and the manual says "the number following H depends on the status of the unit". We have tried resetting the unit, however, it is still not working. We would appreciate some advice. Many thanks.

There is a solution but it takes a little care because the wrong thing touched will give you a shock. Just stay away from the unit near where the power lead enters the unit. OK. remove the top of the unit, place a disk in the unit press play and gently give the DVD a gentle push in a clockwise direction. This disk should then get up to speed and start playing. It also unlocks the error. No guarantees with this one some work, some don't. I hope yours does. BMW

Same Error Code: H02. Great Fix. Remove 2 screws on the left, 2 screws on the right, and 3 screws on the back. Gentlely remove the lid, spin the center spindle, carefully plug in and test. Replace lid and enjoy. Works like a charm!

Ah, good stuff. It took me three tries before it seemed to catch, but it eventually worked. Guess I'll keep the screws out of the lid. Haha.

Wow! Are we all having this problem at the same time? Must be we're at the end of the life of this DVD player. Thanks for your suggestions - I'm off to see if it works.

I was unable to clear the HO2 error without removing the lid. I opened the top and ever so slightly rotated the wheel. Off it rotated and now we're watching movies and having a great time; at least until it stops again.

I just tried Guests' solution and had a little trouble. But after I 'gently' moved the wheel I got nothing. But with a screwdriver and a little pressure to the wheel it seeed to work perfectly. I guess this might prolong the enevitable new player a few more days anyhow.

I was able to clear the H02 error without removing the lid of the unit. Just open the disk tray and gently turn the ratcheted wheel clockwise with your finger. Then load the disk and it should read OK.

I would also suggest using a DVD cleaning Disc which has small brushes that clean the tracking and reading optics. The are inexpensive and can be obtained from Walmart or Amazon.

How to replace the oxygen sensor

Removal & Installation Upstream HO2 S1 To Remove:

H02

The HO2 message means the disc is not spinning,it's not about the lens
or the laser. It is easy to take the lid off.Once you do that, plug it in,open the tray with the remote, put in a DVD,close the tray and then give the white plastic wheel on the top a gentle little nudge to get the disc spinning.

It wont read any disks and keeps coming up with DVD HO2 i've unplugged it for a while but it still comes up with the same message.

POSSIBLE solution

I had this problem a while ago comes up with that code then NO PLAY there are 5little discs inside that seperate the discs when theyre inserted these had come loose somehow I simply restacked them on the spindle, however they MUST go in a certain order or H02 will still appear, mine had numbers on them (but NOT consecutive) I just stacked em in ascending order. It worked great after that.
HOWEVER Ive just had the same problem again but the discs arent loose this time.

Panasonic DVD-RP56 Error H02

I read about removing the cover and spinning the motor by hand. It was suggested without power. I found that I had to have the unit powered up when I hand-spun the motor, then everything worked perfectly... we'll see for how long.

HO2 error

That's the spindle motor and it has to be replaced to solve the problem.
