My KitchenAid 325 Heavy Duty Stand Mixer broke after attempting to knead a double batch of stiff bread dough. Now it still runs, but only at low speed and with less power--anything substantial at all, and it can't push through it. What's wrong? Can I fix it myself? I'm not experienced, but I am willing to try anything, and could probably rope my husband into helping if I get in too deep...would appreciate any advice you can give me.

Well there is a couple of things to try
1. see if kitchenaid sells the motor or
2. if a local appliance parts store can get the motor
this is the only thing you can do about the motor , the wires in the motor are shot and it will need reconstructing in the wireing, that is why it won't run fast and strong , because the wires have been heated up to much and now they can't create a strong enough magnetic field
but to replace the motor shouldn't be to hard just a little patience
if you need any more help just let me know!

sometimes these screws can be very hard to get unscrewed , with the screwdriver on the screw tap the end of the screwdriver to try and loosen the stuck screw, it may take a little force still to get it loose , also try a little WD-40 on it and let it set for a while, then try agaiin later
hope that helps that screw come out

Thanks this is very helpful! Unfortunately, when my husband and I tried to get into the case, one of the large screws was frozen on. Hmm. I know this is a low tech problem but is there any way for me to get this off myself or do I have to break down and go to a repair shop to get it fixed?
