The top and bottom edges of the screen will curve and are blurred slightly with red, green and yellow outlines. It does it right when you turn the TV on and will do it for a couple of minutes, correct, then do it for another couple of minutes and then correct after it's seemingly warmed up. We have had this TV for 8 years and this is the first problem we've had. Is there an easy fix for this or does it mean something major is getting ready to go out?
Thanks!

This sounds like your convergence correction amplifiers have malfunctioned. These Integrated Circuits often burn out after a few years (STK392-110) they can be replaced with a higher version (STK392-150) However it is important to have the biasing circuitry checked to make sure nothing has burnt out as a result of the ICs malfunctioning. If you have a background in electronics you can repair this problem with very little effort, however if you do not have a background in electronics, I would suggest that you have your TV serviced by a qualified TV technician. I hope this helps, Thank you, Shuttle83

The problem is the convergence circuit.
Mitsubishi used two different types of convergence IC's in this series. The first is a pair of STK-392-570, the second is a single STK393-110. The only way to fix the problem is to replace the appropriate IC'S. In some cases the problem may appear to be intermitent or loose solder connections. Save yourself the anguish and replace the IC'S.
Getting the PowerSupply/ Convergence board
out to do this is tricky and I recommend a professional to do it. Hidden screws on the front of the heat-sink make it difficult to take out and you can break the board easily trying to force it.

Sounds like you need the convergence amplifiers replaced. Cost approx. $300.00 for expert to repair.

I have a ws55809 and having a picture issue until it warms up. appears out of focus with color bars on each side. It seams to be getting worse. Last time i turned it on it also had w jerky picture with fine horzontal lines.
