Drying time knob broke

I was about to put my washing on to dry and as i turned the drying knob (think its part 1602413) it came off in my hand and the knob was broken. a bit of plastic has falled into the washer but i have the actual dial. Its just over 2 years old so not in warrenty. I was wondering if anyone knows if i buy the part if i can just slide it back on or do i need a repair man out to do it? am so useless when it comes to these things so really stuck :-(

"If you see that the switch shaft is broken off, replace the switch as well"

thankyou for your response, by what u said above does that mean the metal that sticks out which the knob goes onto? i think that looks ok.

I think the inside of the machine got water in it due to broken pipe. I allowed 2 days for machine to dry out. Now when I turn it on, the dial clicks around. The washer manual calls this an "anomoly." Will probably have to call a repair tech but I would like to be a little knowledgeable so I don't get soaked.
    thx, kathy

You should be able to simply push the new knob right on the switch shaft. If part of the broken knob shaft is on the switch, remove it first before installing the new knob. If you see that the switch shaft is broken off, replace the switch as well. Hope this helps.

Great, don't worry about the switch then, just buy a new knob.

I have a gas dryer. It heats up just fine, but it won't shut off. if put on time dry it won't count down the time and on any other cycle it will just keep running and drying

Oh I can't think of the name of it right now but the whole knob assembly inside needs to be replaced. It's like a timer its integrated into the knob.

I have a CDA ci992 with no instruction manual. I cannot get it to JUST dry. I just need to know which setting to put it on. Any chance you can help? I've tried searching for an instruction manual...

Lisa set the time required on the Drying time control right hand side for high temperature up to 130 mins max and left hand side for low temperature up to 90 mins max. Now set the washer timed dial to the drying emblem (3 vertical wavy lines) next to position 8, then finally you need to push in all 4 control buttons on the left of the thermostat. It should now work according to my wife. Dave

DRYER NOT DRYING

First of all you may want to reset the unit, let me know if you need the procedure and after reseting the unit the washer knob may go round and round all by itself, if this happens the door mode light will flicker in a particular sequence which once once counted we can understand exactly which part in the machine has malfunctioned which once replaced the unit should start to work properly.

WD440 drying high heat and 0n/off light flashing

Just had the exact same problem and think I may have solved it. even turning power off didn't solve it. I think what happened was that the programme had been interupted while drying. I tried everything to get machine to work afterwards but only the following worked - while lights are flashing put back to the same time I had set to dry (60) in my case and turned the dial to M for dry high heat light goes off after a short while - leave for 5 mins then press off. machine will make a noise for a short while then stop.
If this happens then machine should be back to normal.
this is same for both posts I guess.

Drying operation on WD16BA on smeg dryer

I think all you have to do (that's how I do it anyway), is turn the program knob so that the line is at the beginning of the drying stage (the little 'sun'), having first of course chosen the desired amount of drying time with the knob on the far left...
Hope this helps, good luck...
