Olympus stylus 850 won't download pictures

Some of the pictures will not show up on PC and cannot download them.

  • Anonymous Feb 14, 2012

Tried Menu function on camera that sets date and time but cannot figure out how to add date to picture in memory. No problem downloading other pictures in camera memory taken before or after the locked pictures. Don't have an SD card reader on my computer but will look for one.

Hoping for a hint that does not include taking to a specialist. And where would one find such a person today?

It's a shock-proof, waterproof digital camera, people.

You might want to have it checked out by soemoen who knows about cameras. Most likely it's an internal thing. A camera, water-proof and/or shock-proof, can only do so much.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

SOURCE: Olympus Stylus 850 SW LCD

If you camera is built with a viewfinder there is usually an option to de-activate the lcd screen. Usually if you press the display or play button on the back it will re-activate. Also try to access any of the menu's by pressing the menu button. If this does not work also then the LCD is probably bad or not making connection. You would have to find a local service center for repairs. www.phototech.com is the local service center in NYC or you would have to send directly to Olympus in Woodbury Long Island.

Good Luck
