I have a vizio model number vo320e. When I power on I get 3 bars of color. The top is dark blue where you can see the picture. The Middle bar is light blue and cuts off the picture. The bottom bar is gray and has no picture. The middle light blue blinks on and off. There are also verticle whitle lines running through the light blue and gray area. Is the screen bad or can this be fixed? Thanks.

I would suggest checking the driver circuitry for the LCD screen and I would also check the connectors from the driver board to the LCD. Either a component has begun to malfunction (hence the excessive heat) or the component has becom thermally sensitive and is reacting to existing heat and is allowwing excessive current to pass causing more heat to be generated. In any event have a qualified TV technician look at this problem because he will have the proper equipment to troubleshoot the TV in the proper fashion.

this is probably a failure from the screen or the electronic parts that control the videosignals.
i think having a specialist or the tecnical service from vizio taking a look at it will be best and safest.

The problem is the LCD panel itself is bad, but you can also try replacing LCD controller first but doubt very much to be that. You can also try cooling the back of the LCD panel (on the top section) to see if the problem will go away, I had some luck installing a small cooling fan behind the LCD panel. Run the TV with the back open with a fan running in the back.

This could be several things. It could be the main board 3850-0042-0150 or the plasma controller board 6871QCH083A.
Depending on what you actually see on the screen it may as well be bad Y sustain board (although less likely).
Unless someone has seen that particular issue in that particular model (or other that share the same deffective component) it will be anyone's guess which is the exact module. They all can be causing what you describe.
Since TV shuts itself in one minute I'm leaning towards the main board.
I'm afraid you'd have to either experiment or bring it to a service center that will either have such a TV and can try or will experiment on your behalf. Just make sure you do not pay for boards they experiment with. I know some of the other TV service shops in our area (and without a doubt elsewhere too) do that.
A TV service center (just as anyone with regular contacts with eBay) can resell incorrectly ordered part and end up losing $10-$20 on it which , if split between customer and technician, I think is completely fair. Just make sure you don't end up paying for a board that was ordered and turned up not the one in fault.
