Pioneer VSX-AX4AVi-S HDMI connection to PS3. HDMI light flashing just cannot get an image or sound. Very frustrated. If someone could give me a step by step advice on what to do it would be greatly appreciated. PS3 works through TV ok.

Try removing all the speaker and the HDMI connections; then use a headphone to listen to music from the tuner or a CD in stereo mode. Better in direct mode. If you hear your music correctly the receiver could be working correctly. If no music is heard, you may need to have it repaired professionally.
If you can hear music, connect the main FL & FR speakers and verify you can hear music that way, without the headphone connected.
If you can hear music that way, connect the center and rears. Try a mode that uses all channels to verify all sound channels are working.
Then, and only then start adding your HDMI connections.

if your tv has audio output, connect from there then into your pioneer

Make sure that whatever input you are using is set for hdmi audio. You may have mistakenly changed the input mode.

will it display after retarting box and ps3?

use the hdmi from player to tv, use seperate coax or optical cable from player to reciever for your sound

looks to be an auto calibration the mcacc turned on during the testing and setup phase. you could always put the mcacc in manual mode and go through the settins yourself. Just be aware that the setting you are talking about controls the level of you dialog channel and lowing might cause you to have less ability to hear low dialog.

No. Your receivers HDMI version is 1.1 It was the first, and as always, riddled with compatability issues. Nothing you have should be run thru this receiver via HDMI, use your receiver for digital audio switching via optical or coaxial digital. If you really want all the HDMI info and problems; google hdmi forums. There are hundreds that specifically deal with this issue and all the specifics you could ever ask for. Long of the short of it though, Version 1.1 will not work and can not be updated by firmware. Also, it's not Pioneer's nor any other MFG's receiver's problem it's 80% recording industry trying to protect copyright on video, and 20% poor design by HDMI and not forward thinking. Hope this eases the frustration!

That model does not support audio via hdmi. That is the problem.
