Lent to camera to someone and they changed the settings, Now the point and shoot settings are grainy and poor quality. Would like to reset to straight out of the box so I get beautiful pictures again. I am camera illiterate. Thanks JW
It doesn't reset everything, but there is a "Reset All" command in the Setup menu. Press the MENU button, then the wrench and then "Reset All."
This reset leaves the date/time, white balance, language, and video mode alone.
Thank You very much for your answer...my Nikon was very blurry, and I just reset to original!
Someone added... I contacted Nikon about the problem. Turns out there was an update that needed to be installed and that allowed the reset to work properly. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions!! Is there an updated that needs to be installed to RESET ALL?

Having gone a month with no further response, I assume this is no longer a problem.

You should change the ASA or ISO equivalent value--ie, change from 200-speed film to 1600-speed film. This will make the photo appear "grainier" but will show more detail. You can also manually choose slower shutter speeds--even longer than one second--but this will require that you hold the camera very steadily, probably on a tripod.
When you put the picture into your computer, you should be able to modify it with any available software. You can make the picture brighter, change the contrast, or change something called the gamma curve. ALWAYS work from a copy of the original file, so if you screw it up, you still have the original information intact!

Hi Ravi.
You can download a non-printable copy of the manual here.
To print the manual you will have to provide the model number.
If you want a printable copy of the manual start from here, entering the model number on the page linked to printable copy

I did this 7 times and it made no difference. It doesn't matter what I turn the dial to (P, S, A, M,) or the auto focus setting, it's the same quality picture on the screen. Thanks for the suggestion!

What kind of an update is it? Can you update through your computer?
