Older washer/ dryer with no power

check vote to motor u good have short to ground an check element

washer timer, or door lid lock , check volt in water solniod

You may have a short in that circuit or a bad breaker.

Be sure there is power is coming from wall outlet and be sure breaker hasn't tripped. Also if there is a loose connection where cord was installed to unit, there may be a burnt wire.

if its a 220 electric dryer, check both legs of power coming into it. power only to one side of the plug will cause this problem. check the power at the breaker if plug doesnt have 220. breakers do go bad.. if the dryer is older than it could be that the motor is running to slow and letting the heating elements get to warm and kicking out the bimetal relays. the relays will only do this for so many times and then they will stop working . if you have the dryer apart ,the relays are round and usually have just 2 wires going to them. held in with two screws. if you ohm this out it should have resistance ,if none than its no good. could also be heating elements themselves.. you can usually just check them for continuity...

push the knob in then turn it counter clockwise chek the lid switch it may be bad

check the breaker i know the washer works so how come the dryer works on 220volts if one side is out the washer will work but not the dryer if that is not it check the door switch the unit also has a thermal fuse that could be out there is no reset button
