Kenmore model 417 dryer runs but doesn't heat up - then shuts down and 4 green lights on the right flash repeatedly

My kenmore model 417 electric dryer runs, but doesn't heat up, for about 12 minutes, then it shuts down and the four vertical green lights on the right of the machine blink on and off repeatedly. I cleaned out the entire exhaust system but machine continues to do the same. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: kenmore heavy duty clothes dryer will not heat

You really need a volt / ohm meter to check for Continuity & Volts Its well worth the investment... $15.00 bucks give or take a few I would check to see if you have 220v to back of dryer where the cord mounts to dryer, If dryer is getting only 1 leg 110 volts instead of the 220 will it not heat. Check themostates & heater for Continuity... Most models, Now have a.. Hi-limit fuses that need to be checked for Continuity

SOURCE: Dryer runs but doesn't heat up when sttings call for heat.

You may need to do some troubleshooting. This can be done with the machine unplugged - you may have to activate the start switch, belt switch (if it has one) and the motor centrifugal switch manually.
Tip for troubleshooting 220v systems - clip one lead of a ohm meter to either L1 or L2 on the terminal block. It doesn't matter which one. According to the tech sheet (under console) follow the path for current from your clipped terminal, through the heating element, to the opposite terminal. All the readings should be less than 100 ohms, until you reach the failed part. Confirm failure by disconnecting a lead from the suspected part, and test only that part.

Live troubleshooting is sometimes slightly easier, but much more dangerous than the procedure described above. - It is definitely not recommended for beginners, or for professionals, if it can be avoided.

SOURCE: Kenmore 70 series dryer shuts off and won't restart

IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH THE MOTOR IS OVERHEATING AND SHUTTING ITSELF OFF. THAT IS ABOUT THE ONLY THING ON THE DRYER THAT WOULD SHUT IT OFF AND NOT ALLOW IT TO START AGAIN RIGHT AWAY, BUT LET IT START AFTER A WHILE. MAKE SURE THE MOTOR TURNS FREELY. IT SHOULD NOT DRAG OR HUMM WHEN TRYING TO START.

SOURCE: 80 series kenmore electric dryer runs but no heat

This could be the heating element or several other parts more likely the thermal fuse. There is a video on troubleshooting a similar model at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru troubleshooting your problem.

Kenmore electric dryer model 88042 runs but stops short beeping

Based on symptom and details, the control has detected a component failure. Since your model does not have digital display window in order to display a fault code, it will flash the four indicator lights of

Drying, Cool Down, Wrinkle Rid (Press Saver), and Clean Lint Filter will flash the number of times for the first digit of the code and the START indicator light will flash the number of times for the second digit.

Take separate counts of each indicator light, then repeat to confirm in order to be accurate in identifying the proper error code. The code is obtained by counting the number of times the lights flash. Example E24: The four indicator lights would flash twice indicating the 2 and the START indicator light will flash four times indicating the 4. The four indicator lights and the START indicator light

start flashing at the same time. The control will pause for 2 seconds, then repeat the code.

The failure is likely because of a faulty thermistor or because the heater is not working. It could have a broken heating element or a burnt wire connection at the control board. I would begin by accessing the thermistor and disconnecting it. The thermistor can be tested with an Ohm meter. The thermistor should measure approximately 50,000/5K Ohms at room temperature.

The heating element is located behind the drum and it can be disconnected and tested for continuity with an Ohm meter.

NOTE: Disconnect the dryer from the power supply before servicing.

My Kenmore series 90 Gas dryer doesn't heat up.

This dryer is what I like to call a 4 wheel drive model. Because it has wheels on the front as well as the back. To access the gas assembly you pop open the bottom panel. Strat the dryer and observe the gas assembly. You should hear a click and then the ignitor should glow. Next the flame sensor should trip and cause the ignitor to shut down. The gas will now be allowed to come out and fire off a blast.I have 2 home videos. on shows the operation and replacement of the coils. The other is of an electric model but shows how to put the dryer together.

The dryer is not heating up and the dial stops at the cool down so the dryer will not shut off by it self. Its a kenmore 70 series dryer.

you need to send the model number, open the door and look around the opening where you put the clothes into the dryer and you'll see the tag with the model number.it will start with 110. or 417.because you have no heat that's why the timer won't advance, when the heat shuts down then the timer advances when the heat comes back on the timer stops moving or advancing,no heat the timer won't move.send the model number

This is something your going to need a service tech for. The error is taking place within the control console itself and the console my need to be replaced.

Blinking error codes?

Unplug the machine for 30 minutes , plug it back it, start it for 1 minute, unplug it again for 5 minutes then plug back it and it should work. If not then write back with the error codes so further diagnostics can be done

Kenmore dryer model #86870100 runs but no heat

this kit mounts on the heater element chamber. The small one will be open. The big one failed also because it is rated to shut down @250°F. The little guy is rated at 300°F. NOTE: when this limit fails it is a sure sign of a blockage of lint somewhere.8e8a912.jpg
