Sharp LC-32D44 I have recently purchased a new TV and can't get the surroud sound from my SONY DAV S400 to work fromm the tv. Have tried all the outputs on the back of the TV with the inputs from the DVD player... or so I think... please can you tell me where the various wires of different colours should go so that I can get surround sound through my TV channels?
Below picture shows Audio inputs of Sony DAV-S400 and you can hook up any one. Go to menu of home theater system and enable surround. Need further help, let me know please...

Sound like the TV has a defective audio board. Opening up the TV would most likely void the warranty.
It's best to take the TV back and exchange it for a new one. Personally, I wouldn't want to be stuck with a defective TV ( that just came out of the box ) that they are going to repair for you.
not unless there is a vga connection or a s video connection on the unit. if so s video cable male to male should work then you have to go into the video card settings on the laptop by right clicking the desktop and selecting porpeties. then adjust settings to transfer image from laptop to tv
In my case, I followed the advice of others and took the thing apart. On the main amp board there is a large brown capacitor. Mine had come completely loose, so I soldered it back in place with a good amount of solder to make sure the contacts were ok. I also dabbed some solder on the headphone connectors on the same board (just follow the wire from the headphone socket to the board). Well, when I put it back together and tried it again everything worked perfectly, and it has so far remained free from the error. Hope that helps !
Here are a couple of the most common reasons for your problem:
Make sure you have selected the right input source on the DAV-HDX275 that your TV station source (cable, satellite, direct TV or whatever you get TV stations from) is connected to on the DAV-HDX275.
Also make sure that if you are using a digital input (HDMI, optical, or coaxial) from the TV station source, that the DAV-HDX275 in set for a digital input and on the right source.
If you are using an analog source (red and white RCA jacks) for the TV stations , make sure you do not have the digital input activated for that source on the DAV-HD275. You need to select the analog option.
You must also be sure that you have a cable, whether it is analog or digital, connected from the cable box to the DAV-HD275.
I hope this was helpful to you, it is always very important to double check all the connections and make sure the stereo is set to the right type of input (digital or analog).
If you have found this to be helpful, a good rating is always appreciated. Thanks and let me know if you need any more help.
Sounds like your TV's sound output isn't working. Check all the connections and if that doesn't do it, try hooking up some other sound system to the TV to check that it is working properly.
It won't work as the DAv can only output to HDMI by bringing singal into the HDMI input.
why wouldn't you send it directly to the TV and Audio to the DAV? I sounds like you don't have an HD box anyway (otherwise why would you use an analogue S-video cable vs component or HDMI). Unless there is a distance issue then go to the TV.
If you are trying to make your TV audio come out your Sony system, you didn't say what the input to your TV was from (ex;Cable TV,Sat TV).
Sometimes it is easier to take the external (cable or Sat) out puts and feed the video into the TV but the red white into the AMP (TV input)then select TV on your AMP to hear TV.
Also some tv's need to make a speaker choice! go to Set up and change the speaker set up for the TV, you may have to tell the TV no speakers to create out put to Amp from the REd White TV out put.
