Have you checked that the TV isnt Muted/ Volume turned to 0 ? i would check in the menus if that is the case.
If this is not what is happening i suggest you surf over to the Goodmans website at www.goodmans.co.uk/ to see if there is any troubleshooting/FAQs on there. if not, i would call Goodmans customer Support, their number is located on the said website !

If you are not a tech then there is no way you can fax your tv as there is no friendly user parts inside.you need to have a sound technical back ground to be able to fix any tv.your tv has a problem in the video section it can be the video ic that is faulty or some other component sorounding the IC It can also be a faulty IF section that also is a IC.this will need the be rectified by a tech.good luck
If the backlight of the LCD-panel does not function, (no picture) then Master and/or Slave inverter are defective. Inverter boards are screwed to both sides of the LCD display, if they have revision 1.2 boards then they will need replaced with revision 1.3 boards.
It sounds to me that the unit has a faulty inverter board which could be due to an overheated/bulged capacitor. I would send in a claim on it to the factory if it is still under warranty.
Most likely what happened is one of the capacitors went bad. When a capacitors goes bad it produces a popping sound. This could be an easy and cheap fix if you find the bad capacitor or capacitors. The bad capacitor will have a bulging top most likely on the power board but could be anywhere.
This sound like you are having problems with the power supply board. Since you are getting a momentary picture and sound the fuses are good but TVs today have "shorts" and "overvoltage" circuitry build in that will shut it down on errors. Someone knowledgeable in electronics will have to isolate the exact cause.
If it is a LCD TV, and there is a faint picture, it is probably the backlight or inverter board (probably the latter). This is a common problem (especially with PC monitors). Do an internet search for your model and inverter, you may be able to replace it. Make SURE you REMOVE the power lead before opening the set !!!!
