Mp830 I believe that my printer is completely dead and it is over the 13 month warranty. I tried unplugging it and then replugging it in and it did not work. It is completely dead. I noticed (in one of your responses) that you said a power surge will damage the board. I had a few. Is it worth having it repaired or should I just buy a new one
Canon might cover this machine as some times they will cover it as its only be 13 months depending what country you are in.
well the MP830 is a very good product and i would think about keeping it. I would maybe look at other new machines like mx850 and see if its worth buy a new one.
Where abouts are you in the world as can repair your machine if you are in the uk.
power surges will damage the machine depending how much damage it has done, it could off blown main board, psu, cartridges, printhead. So it could be worth buying a new machine.

well as they say they only build them to last until the warranty wears off. if the power supply is making a whining noise it might have blown. either you could buy a new one or as you said the repair center is 150 miles away.......
There are many places for paper scraps to hide, and a sensor in the white guide behind the platen roller that gets bent. You get 1 year warranty with Canon printers and you can call 1-800-828-4040 to find the nearest shop.
The 6500 error can be something that needs repair or complete replacement as well. If your printer is less then 12 months then you can contact Canon Tech support for repair or replacement under warranty. For toll-free technical support*, please call 1 (800) 828-4040 during regular business hours (currently Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. EST, excluding holidays).
Try this. Turn off unit. Unplug charger. Take out battery. Replug charger - not battery. Turn on computer. If it comes on the battery has a glitch and should recover after an hour or so. If it doesn't come on, the unit needs to see a reputable computer repairperson.
hi i am a certified Canon repair tech for this printer. these machines are prone to power faluire due to power surges. this machine uses very low DC voltages so when you have even a small AC power surge the eletrictronics in this printer get over charged and they blow. most of the Canon machines that i have seen with no power have been the main logic board at fault not the power supply. if the machines are under 13 months old they are still covered under warrenty. you can call Canon at 1-800-OK-CANON and they will locate a repair center near you. hope this helps.
