Using usb stick

First you will have either copy and pate the movie or download it to your usb drive

One of the benefits of putting files on a USB flash drive is that you can make any type of file portable.

This includes not only documents, spreadsheets and photos, but also media like video clips and movies.

If you have movies saved on your flash drive that you want to view, watching the movies directly from the USB drive is a simple process and can be achieved on almost any computer.

Connect your USB drive to the device on which you want to watch your movies.

This includes all USB-compatible computers, as well as some select television-compatible devices (like the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 or Sony Media Extender).

Launch the file explorer application on your device.

In Windows, access this utility by accessing the "Computer" application and then double-clicking the USB drive to display the files.

If you are trying to watch the movie files on a compatible television device, look for a "media," "device" or "USB input" application or button to bring up the file explorer.

Select the movie file you want to play.

In Windows, do this by double-clicking on the file.

The appropriate media-handling program should automatically launch and begin playing the movie automatically.

If you are using a television device, select the file from the list of compatible files in the device's internal explorer system.

hope this helps

Eh5000 wont play movies on usb stick

The TV can only play a specific format of video. You may be using MP4 files while the TV can only view 3GP or FLV formats; just try downloading a converter (I've used FLV Converter on Windows XP for years, works fine and very simple) and changing the file format.

Sony home theatre DAV-FXG99K does not play usb movie file. Any suggestion? What type of movie file plays in USB?

What exactly is a "usb movie file"? USB is a data transport method, not a file type.

I cannot play back images in my Sony cyber shot camera.

Please provide more information.

1. Does it have that error all the time and is unable to play back ANY images? Or does it say that for only some images?

It sounds like a corrupt memory card affecting one or more images that are not in the correct format for the camera to read it.

2. Did something lead up to this condition?
For example did anything happen to the camera? Was it dropped, got wet? or someone was messing with the memory card taking it in/out/in/out while the left sitting around?

Here are some potential solutions.
Sorry it's not a really short solution but there are several things that can cause this.

1. Re-seat the memory stick. So remove it and put it back in.
It should go in smoothly and all the way. See if it works then.

2. Try a different memory stick, take a photo or two and see if it plays back.

3. Erase the offending file.
A File Error can be caused by taking a photo with really low batteries and the camera shuts off halfway through saving the photo generating a corrupt file.

It often won't get over that on it's own so you have to use a computer to erase the offending file.

3. Fix corrupt card by reformatting it.
You could use a USB flash card reader (or connect the camera via USB) and retrieve your photo's to the computer so you have them. Then reformat the card and it's often OK again at that point.
If the problem comes back it's probably a faulty card.

Other causes:
A File Error can also be caused by loaning out the memory card and someone put it in a different camera for a while. Then when you get it back it can't read the new files on it. In that case use a computer to remove the extra files or backup your files and reformat the card.

Use the camera to format the card because Sony likes to do things their own way and they don't play well with others (with regard to compatability of batteries, memory cards, cables,,,etc) Their products don't fit or work with other company's products.

One Last check you could do is use a memory card reader (or the camera via USB if it mounts the card as a drive letter) and run a full Windows CheckDIsk on the card, to test it for errors.

Will playstation 3 play blu ray movies off usb memory stick? all other movies worked but blu ray one didn't work.

the PlayStation 3 can read just about any usb memory stick and play can movies from them, since a usb's bandwidth is significantly lower then the ps3 hard drive it's recommend to copy the movie to the ps3's hard drive.

also it matters how the movie was converted. some converted movies wont play on the ps3 no matter what codec your using to encode the movie with.

Panasonic tz5 movie files will not play in Windows only Quicktime

If the movies are recorded as .avi, then you will have to use QuickTime. One way to avoid having to select QuickTime each time is to hold the SHIFT key, right click over the video file and select "Open With". Now select QuickTime (otherwise select other programs) and scroll to QuickTime from the list and you should see a check box at the end of the list and make sure its checked. Here is a screen shot:
82275de.jpg
Now click OK and the next time you open the camera movie files, it will automatically open in QuickTime.

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.
