Acer AL2002W Buzzing sound I took the Monitor apart and its in parts on the bench when I first turn it on its very apparant, If there is any pressure on the back of the LCD panel it will change Other than the buzzing like there is something shorting out the monitor works fine. This came this way out of the box

No you cant fix it, you need a new monitor, check your warranty first.

Not safely and not unless you are confident and competent with electronics. I would put the dimming down to a failing display circuit, but the buzzing sounds as though a short is developing. I would take it to a tv repair shop who can advise better and maybe replace or repair the components

I assume you have already try it on another PC, try new VGA cable? Need to narrow down before taking it apart (not easy on this model)

vandetucker, You should use your warranty and use it NOW!! When "IT" goes to "BLACK" can you see the WIN-desktop when holding a bright flashlight at different angles 1 inch from screen??? How old is unit? How many "ON" hours does it have? Your monitor isn't any different than a Gateway or LG or Phillips, VIEWSONIC, SHARP, Samsung, Sony, Dell!!! You will need to read a few of my other responses and follow some of the links to web pages that you find already in my profile on fixya, so that you will know what questions to ask about repairing your unit. Let me know WHAT YOU WANT TO DO after you have done some research about your BLACK SCREEN lcd monitor. Here is an option I just know you will love. You can do the trade for new 2010 monitor unit and the technician in the back of the computer store just might put $6 $8 in parts into your old AL2002WSD and have a nice wide screen for the new year. Yeah, and your monitor "blinks like a light bulb" !!! Oh my!! How right you are!!! Do you know anything about "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps"? You should also see if Acer has a cash+old swapout program for a same model refurbished unit??? You should also give ACER a little bit of lip about the poor reliability of their short lifespan electronic ballasts and CCFL lamps. Like to know what your going to do! 12fixlouie Bye for now

Well, you've got a busted backlight inverter... Need to replaced a new one...

For DVI you need to probably upgrade your cheap graphics card, something not that expensive would be a ATI Radeon HD2400 Pro, it'll do. May want to check what pwer supply maybe required on your PC.

yes you can fix this problem go in to start menu then control panel then double click display, then screen resulution and add the secondary screen, bc windows doesn't add the screen automaticlly you have to do it this way
