Kenmore 70 Series Washer

My washer recently has not been spinning all of the water out of the clothes. I took some of the clothes out and put it in for a second spin and the drum would not move. I had to have only 2 towels in there for it to spin and the water was still not coming out. I have cleaned it out with a rag. There doesn't seem to be any water laying in the bottom of the washer; it just won't come out of the clothes. These were not big loads either. Thanks

Same type of problem, I noticed it isn't spining fast enough to ring out the cloths but when there isn't anything in it it spins much faster and better. It's just not pinning fast enough with cloths in it.

I have the same problem and we bought this washer used so I am wondering if it is going to cost alot to fix the problem or if we should just break down and go buy a new washer? Help!

  • Anonymous Oct 19, 2008

My 70 series Kenmore washer does the same thing. The water fills the washer, but the agitator does not work and the spin cycle does not work.

I would like it very much if someone could tell me what parts I might need and a diagram of the machine, and some instructions if possible. I could probably do without the instructions, but anything that makes it easier would be eagerly welcomed.

If the symptom is that the water will not drain (the drain pipe sounds like it is trying to expel water), what are the failure points and how should they be diagnosed??

Constructive replies are appreciated: coronabeach at gmail

the lid doesn't click like it used to....and it doesn't spin nor drain.

  • Anonymous Mar 07, 2009

My kenmore washer does not spin all the water out of the clothes and therefore the clothes take over 3 hours to dry (1/2 load or full load is about the same). Dryer is new. washer is 4 years old. Model number 110 24632300.

will not spin water out anymore.please help.

  • Anonymous May 23, 2009

My girl friends washer will fill with water and agitate.
Then once it is finished it just sits there, does nothing. No motor sound, nothing. It will not spin, drain, anything.

I have tried several settings on the dial, they all agitate and thats it.

I am in the process of disassembling and troubleshooting but even though I work on million dollar acid processing equipment...I don't know where to start on the washer! :)

If the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining. Release switch. Motor should stop. Press switch a second time. Washer should start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid switch is pressed, replace the switch.

Mine just did this, too, yesterday! You need a new motor coupler. See this page for the part and disassembly tips.

Ressa, there could be a couple of things going on here but let's start with the nuetral drain. After agitating the washer should enter a nuetral drain period of about 90 seconds before spinning. Your water in the tub should be gone. You can observe this by taking a small screw driver and holding down the lid switch during a regular load. If it's not going into this nuetral drain your clothes are going to be wet. This is a gearcase problem which is covered under warranty for 5 years, part only. Other things to consider is a restricted drain hose or clogged pump. Catriver..post back.

My washer,(sears 70 series) will not let the tub fill. It just runs out. But not all the time. What could be the problem, please.

Kenmore washer

most likely you have a sock or, some cloth obstructing the pump.
you will have to bail out the water then: remove the Sears 700 series 4screws holding the washer's control panel and, remove the washer side clips under the panel to remove the washer's sides then remove the 8 pump screws to remove the pump face and, remove the obstruction. the

Kenmore series 70 washer will only fill with water.

I recently had this problem. It was found that the main drive belt broke and the washer would fill but not spin, agitate or drain. I replaced the belt and everything worked again. A defective or disconnected cover switch would also cause the same problem.

Kenmore 70 series washer will not spin, clothes are too wet

Not a belt, this is only a sound deadening devise on the brake housing. Not really needed. Replace the coupler

Kenmore 70 series

First thing is to remove the 2 screws from the console, they may be hidden in the front or bacl of console. After removing screws, lightly push the base of the console towards the front of the washer and pick up. This will expose your lid switch connection. Using a jumper wire, jump out the black and white wires then try advancing your washer into spin/drain. The culprit will usually be the lid switch assy.

Kenmore Series 70 Washing Machine - won't drain water

look at the bottom of the control panel on the end caps and back out the two screws then pull the control panel slightly forward and tilt it back then you should see gray wires either going in the body of the washer or to a switch on the left side un plug the harness and put a jumper wire across the connector going to the control panel then try spin
