I have a Brother CS6000i Computer sewing machine. I was sewing today and I got a jam all of a sudden. I turned off machine and unthreaded it. While getting the bobbin out I noticed that the bobbin holder was slightly moved toward the back and the bobbin was hard to get out. Now the needle won't go down. It hits the bobbin area. I'm assuming by reading some of the other post that my timing is off. I called a Repair shop and explained my problem. They said they could oil, clean and time for $70, but that because the bobbin area moved that it might be something else which would cost extra. Is it worth doing this or is there a way for me to time it myself.
Thanks Leighann

your machine needs to be clean take it down clean and oil it up and you will have that problem no more.good luck.

No this machine does not use a bobbin. I just purchased one too and called the supplier to help me keep mine threaded. He said they do not take much tension at all. So check your tension and then when threading it, make sure your thread goes under the bar in the center of the tension disk, not on top of.
Good luck, once you get it going it does a beautiful job!!!! Love it, Love it!

I assume you checked to see there are no needle bits in the bobbin case holder.
Without looking at the machine it is difficult to diagnose the problem. It could be any one or a combination of problems, timing, needle bar height, damage to the hook and base etc.
I strongly suggest you have it looked at by a sewing machine tech.

SOURCE: bobbin holder won't stay put
If the bobbin case/holder is trying to lift up and the thread is staying partly around it, your bobbin case may have turned part way.
Remove the needle plate and the bobbin case. The outer edges of the bobbin case should be very smooth. I suspect you may see a needle hole in the flat area that was under the foot. If so, you will probably wish to take it to your dealer and show them. They may smooth it or recommend replacing it. When the bobbin case is placed back into the hook cup that it sets in, the retainer at the 11 o'clock position on it should only allow the case to lift up about 0.8 to 1mm at the most. If it will lift up more than this, press down firmly on the retainer and move it closer to the bobbin case. You must have enough room for the thread to pass between the retainer and the bobbin case, but too much clearance will allow the bobbin case to turn in the machine and it will be damaged by the needle.
