Aspire 5100 Kepad and touchpad not working

Keypad and touch pad stopped working on this laptop. Keypad does not work either when power button is pushed and any F2 key will not allow to get into BIOS or boot menu choices.
When using a logic tech USB keyboard via PCMI card we can type this text. Exchanged keyboard and mouse pad (upper half of Laptop with items from an identical machine where the keyboard and touch pad worked.
Any suggestions

While using my Acer 5100, my keyboard and touchpad stopped working.
When I restarted the machine, the keyboard and touchpad were
inoperable. So, I started it again and tried to hit F2 to get to the
bios, but nothing happened. I even tried to get it to boot to the
Windows installation disk, but it was also unsuccessful. What now? No
one has physically been into the bios to change any settings. I can
usually repair any computer problem, but this one has me stumped. (BTW,
I'm on my son's MAC right now. Funny how he never has any problems.)
    Please help!

No... No one has physically be in the BIOS. I've tried shutting the computer down, starting it back up and hitting F2, F4, F8, and booting from the Windows Installation disk. Nothing is working.

Emachines e725 Touchpad Not Working

The eMachines E725 has a built in switch to toggle the touchpad on or off by the touch of a button. Look at the button to the left of the main power switch. You'll notice the icon looks like a hand touching a rectangle - or touchpad. if this button is lit up, the touchpad is turned off. simply press the button to toggle the touchpad back on. The light on the button should now be off.
It's that simple.

Touch pad stopped working

Did you turn the touch pad off accidentally? To turn it back on just hit (Fn) Function+F7

If that didn't work, go to Device Manager, Mice and other pointing devices, properties and check the status. If its OK, reinstall the driver, and power off the machine and reboot.

If there are no drivers visible during a reinstall, download them from the Acer website.

If all these did not work and your laptop is under warranty, have the manufacturer replace the touchpad.

Keyboard/touchpad problem.

The keyboard and touch-pad are connected to an internal USB interface, If no USB interfaces are working at all this suggests that the USB host controller (a physical computer chip) has failed.
You can try a chip-set reset; disconnect both power and battery and hold down the power button for 30 seconds (timed), this will reset all chip settings to default and discharge any static buildup but this is in no way guaranteed to fix the problem. If the laptop is still under warranty arrange for repair.
In the mean time most of the Aspire 5100 series have a PC card slot on the side so you could use a USB or PS2 host card to connect a keyboard and mouse.
