Sounds like you have a capacitor that is going bad, if not already burst. They sometimes can make sounds as well when going bad. The new flat screen TVs are prone to capacitors going bad as well. So, take off your back panel and find out which capacitor is bulging/busted and replace (if you are comfortable with your soldering skills).
It is due to power supply regulator fault. Check the main power supply regulator section circuits for any damaged [bulged] electrolytic capacitors. Replace the suspected capacitors. When replace an electrolytic capacitor, make sure about its polarity. Like torch batteries, these capacitors also have both [+ve] and [_ve] terminals, and should match it with markings at the printed circuit board, when replace them. If the polarity changes when replacing them, they might burst out. Normally, [-ve] marking will be there on its body. See the example of the suspected component. Both good and damaged. See the bulged capacitor and good one on the same frame.
Check for any bursted electrolytic capacitors on its main power supply regulator board. The sound you heard might be to this burst. Take care, and unplug the TV from AC mains supply wall socket, before opening and checking this board. See examples of bulged [bursted] capacitor.
I have discovered that this is a common problem with monitors and it is caused by capacitor failure. The capacitors in your monitor hold power enough for the display on your monitor. Inside your monitor, on the board where the power cable is connected, that is where you will find capacitors. Get any computer technician to open up your monitor and check for any bulged or burst capacitor. A malfunctioning capacitor will be identified with a bulged head or a burst. Remove the failed capacitor(s) and replace with the same type of capacitor(s) with the same voltage and degrees. Make sure that you note the polarity (-) and (+) when you are replacing the capacitors. This would help you out of your problems
Possible failure of the display driver circuit or the back light circuit. This can also be a failure of the capacitors in the board or the power supply.
So you need to open and check on the power supply and board for bursted/bulged capacitors. Clean the electrolytic that had oozed out , replace the capacitors , check the power supply voltages and reset.
Power supply board have dead capacitors.Know how to solders?Replaced these dead capacitors will solved this problems.Capacitors usally bulge up or burst open.Or tries Websites Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole power supply board for the replacement.Have no Electronics Tech. skills.
Power supply board have dead capacitors, have Tech.skills, know how solders?Replaced these capacitors that bulge up or burst open.Or buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
Check the display IC module for burst or bulged capacitors. If found any, they should be replaced with the ones with exactly the same specifications. You may also find some wax if the capacitor has burst or leaked.
The Video IC seems to be going. Needs a replacement of any bulged or burst capacitors on the video module. If burst, you will see some wax around the capacitor.
