Faded colors with brand new printer

We just baught and set up our printer. When I tried to print a colorful page, the colors where seriously faded. No streaks, or missing colors, just very faded looking. We tried to change the intensity to darker, with no results at all. When we did a straight copy the colors where better, normal looking, but the scanner didn't seem to pick up on backgroud colors very well. I changed the intensity again to all the way dark and it was better but still not very good.

Yeah - brand new printer and everything is printing out like it's at 50% intensity no matter what settings I use. But copying or word document with only black ink ok.
Slightly better when I use high quality photo paper but on plain paper looks like pale version of my colourful artwork.

What I was told to do was change the paper setting from plain to matte. This worked great for me, and no more issues with faded colors

What I was told to do by canan support, was to change the setting from plain paper to matte. This worked great and we have no more problems with faded colors.

Isn't this "solution" using the hell out of your ink? It saturates the paper with ink using matte setting. I thought this was just a faulty unit, but it seems canon isn't as great as I thought. I'm taking it back and buying the Lexmark. Ink is more expensive than the damn printer to keep using the matte setting.

Color is offset and blurred. There is no problem printing in black. Printing test page shows the same symptoms.

Hello
The color of HP LJ 2600n fades due to following reasons
1. the color cartridge near to empty 2. due to dust on reflection mirrors inside the printer
if the color cartridges are OK, then you need help of HP technician support, because cleaning of mirrors is very technical in nature for 2600n.
Dusty Environments can lead to Laser Scanner Contamination. The dust layer on the mirrors prevents proper transmission of the laser output in the imaging system leading to faded colors on the printed page. The initial stages of this failure typically occur in the magenta or yellow color planes as faded or light color. Often the left side is more faded than the middle.
You may need to contact the nearest Authorized Service Tech and get teh Laser Scanner replaced with the new released service part that has a mirror in a location where the dust ideally cannot reach easily.
Also, please ensure that the printer is relocated from the current location to a more dust free zone.
Hope this helps, if so do rate the solution

While printing in black middle of page fades out both sides of the page print well. this is about a 1 inch fade out in middle of page.

Replace the drum of the particlular color cartridges. To know which color you have to print in single color one by one. If problem persist then replace transfer belt .

Phaser 7300 - one color fading on diagnostics page

Are you using third party toner? That is one thing that causes that problem. Use only xerox toner.
The other thing is that your image unit could have come defected, if it was brand new. Try changing the image unit and that should fix that problem. Good luck. 016-1993-00 image unit & toner 016-1977-00

I have a Xerox Phaser 8400 with image problems. After power up it prints a Startup Page - That page is black text which faded and slightly distorted in some areas and in areas that are in Color only...

What you are describing is a bad print head. You can try running the eliminate light stripes several times, and jet substitution, but most likely the print head will have to be replaced to remedy your problem.
You can try googling. Phaser printer print heads or phaser printheads.
There seems to be a secondary market appearing for those print heads. I can tell you from Xerox, if you have no maintenance agreement, they cost $750 per print head.
Honestly, having worked on about every type of color printer known to man, the new solid ink phaser printers, produce a dry ink image of 2400 x 2400 dpi with ink particles that align end to end. The resolution of those printers are remarkable and can be purchased for less than the price of one of those new print heads.
Now for reliable, albeit somewhat not as sharp a color image, but still exceptional, you really can not beat an HP.
The ink stick technology really no longer has the color vividness advantage it initially had. The inks that align end to end, have ended that advantage and are sure a lot cheaper to operate per page.

Where to disable color management in printer driver dialog box

When you go to print.  In the box that say's print with printer/presets there's another that say's copies and pages, scroll down to Color Management. Then you will see a Off (No Color Adjustment). Try that and also in the same dialog box is Print Settings that's where you put your paper type selection. Hope this helps
