We lost our picture (have sound) & after removing the plastic back cover & metal shield, & checking for loose wires, etc., it started working. However, when both covers were replaced, back to the same problem! So we removed both covers again. Now it sits on the counter, WITH NO BACK COVERS, & works perfectly. Any thoughts on what could be wrong with our re-assembly??? Thanks.

Hi wingshooter,
Your son is right. the 2 screw of the male should be fasten
to the hole of the female dvi. replacing the whole part
need careful de-soldering.
However, if the shield is still there and only the hole where
to screw in the male end of the cable, you can get from
old computer discarded around. you only have to remove
the two hex screw and replace it into your DVI female.
Observe that the head of these screws are hex, six corners,
and the hole is threaded. that threaded hole is where to screw in
the screw attached to your male DVI socke
Good luck,

Usually answered in minutes!
my maxent 26 inch lcd has the same problem so i removed the cover and sheild and it works !!!'
put it back on and scrambled screen
give it about 5 minutes and i start to get lines till its nothing but lines
any clues ??????????
I get a picture for a few minutes, then blue screen, then horizontal lines. Opened set, but found no loose wires or burned out components. Did not try operating without the cover. I am assuming that the high voltage unit may be shorting out when the unit heats up.
