How to remove front panel off my older gateway essential

if it has a molded plastic front panel, most have one version or another of plastic tabs or snaps holding it to a frame.. you just have to try to carefully pry the front away from the case with a thin tool... other types of front panels can be riveted in place and basically not removable..you can usually see what type of construction the case is by removing the side panel and looking at the front panel from the inside...

Replace hard drive

Most of the gateway slimlines are the same.
  1. When looking at the front of the desktop, while it is standing up right. Remove the back right screws (2)
  2. Slide side panel off
  3. Gently pull up the 3 plastic latches for the front cover panel.
  4. This should allow the front panel to slide off.
  5. Now unscrew the screws attached to the ODD (optical disc drive)
  6. Disconnect the cables attached to the ODD and the Hard drive (HDD)
  7. Unscrew the screws to the HDD.
  8. Now put it back together.

How does one remove the right side panel from a Gateway DX4840-11e Desktop?

May not be exact, just posting info I know;

If memory serves you remove the Front Panel. This allows access to tab,s that are depressed, and allows the removal of the Right/Upper metal part of the case, (After removing rear Philips screws, 'natch)

I also seem to remember that there are plastic 'Tabs' on the top plastic cover, that protrude down into the top metal frame of the computer case. Once the wires are disconnected, the tabs are depressed, and this allows the plastic top to slide off.

Direction? Memory fading. Can't remember if you slide to the Front, or Rear. Looking at those plastic tabs should reveal this.

Also cannot remember if the plastic Top needs to be removed first, THEN the 'fairing'.

Awaiting your reply. Post back in a Comment.
Perhaps together, as you work on disassembling the case, we can solve this problem.
Remove the Front Panel, then tell me what you see.

Replace power button gateway sx 2311

Computer unplugged from power, FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions.

1) Remove the Side Panel.
Viewing the computer from the Front; the Right Side Panel removes. Remove screw, pull Side Panel to the rear of the computer.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883113140

Click on the large main photo.
There are 9 smaller views shown. 3 across, and 3 rows.
Bottom row, click on the photo in the Middle.
Shows Rear view of computer.

Along the back edge of the Side Panel, is a finger pull handle formed out of the Side Panel. There also looks to be two screws. One above the pull handle, one down towards the bottom.

2) Remove the Front Bezel.
Click on the Middle row/middle photo.
Also look at Middle row, 3rd photo. (Photo all the way to right)

There are 3 Black tab locks, formed out of the plastic of the Front Bezel. One towards the Top, one in the Middle, and one towards the Bottom.

If memory serves these tabs are gently pulled to the outside, to release the Front Bezel. Ease the Top tab out a little, and Middle tab.

Start easing the Front Bezel away from the metal framework, of the computer case, a little. Then release the Bottom tab.
Front Bezel should swing, and then come off.

Not your Gateway model of computer case, but this Gateway model shows the plastic Tabs to release,

http://support.gateway.com/s/CASES/3501975/3501975faq6.shtml

The Power On Button is an assembly. The plastic housing of the Power On Button assembly, has a Power On switch inside.
I gently heat the plastic with a hair dryer, moving the hair dryer back, and forth at it.

Once the tabs of the plastic, of the Power On Button assembly, is softened; then I remove the Power On switch.

I have found this ATX power on switch, fits a LOT of desktop computers,

Gateway is notorious for putting hidden clips towards the front face of the computer. Look for plastic push tabs along the inside of the front of the computer. If you locate them, pull/squeeze them to the insides of the case and push forward. The front cover should come off.

How do I open the case on a gateway (GM) MFATXNIN NMZ 300L ?

There's a security screw on the back that needs to be removed to allow the front latch to release the side panel. It's the stupidest most confusing case ever. The latch is very hard to see, it's part of the black plastic in the front, just push down on things until you see one move a bit. It's sort of like a car door handle movement.
