Hi, i was wondering if anyone can help me. i have a panasonic NV-GS15 and the eject/tape holder is stuck open. before this happened, i opened it to see if i had left a tape in it, because i hadn't used it for a while. it opened as usual(moving up with the tape holder poping open) but without me closeing the tape holder, it went down, leaving it open. i am unable to close it because it is latched over the outer casing. the LCD screen said to reset the camera. i pressed the reset button, the LCD screen said no tape was inserted and the tape holder was still down and open. i've been trying to find a way to manually move the holder up so i can close it but i have been unsuccessful. does anyone have an idea how to fix it? if anyone would like some pictures to better explain the problem, i can send them.
Did you find a solution? I've got the same problem with a NV-GS11. Thanks, DANIEL...Did you find a solution? I've got the same problem with a NV-GS11. Thanks, DANIEL...

Your camera appears slightly older than mine so I will do my best for you. Have you tried ejecting the tape with the power off? If I have problems I slide the eject button when the camera is off but plugged in and the tape can be ejected. I suspect the tape mechanism is in trouble. When a tape stuck in mine I had to literally force the cover open. But this is a last resort.
Give my suggestion a try and apologies if you have already tried that...
Since
the tape won't come out then it means you will have to manually remove
the stuck tape. This involves you disassembling the unit in order to
help/assist the player get the stuck tape out.
Turn of the unit
and remove from the wall, get a Philip screw driver, use it to remove
all the screws from the unit and take it apart.
Open the cover and you will see the stuck tape and what's hooking or preventing it from coming out/ejecting.
Now
plug the unit, and turn it on. Press the eject button, as the tape
tries to come out, support it with your hand so that it can come out.
Or
if it happen that the cassette tape has coiled inside the unit,
carefully free the coiled tape and the press the eject button.
Lastly,
the moment you disassemble the player, you would see what's preventing
it from coming out, then you can free whatsoever that is making it stuck
press the eject button and the tape should come out.
Make sure the unit is turned off each time you want to remove what's making the cassette stuck.
Tape mechanism problems are quite complicated but theycan usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.
My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

It sounds that what's happened is your idler wheel is slipping or even your main drive belt.
When you loaded the tape it was taken by tape guides around the video drum. When you pressed eject the tape guides returned to their proper places but the tape stayedin a loop around the mechanism because the take up spool had no drive to pull the tape back into the cassette. When you've tried to pull the cassette out of the camera that loop of tape has snagged on part of the mechanism and that's what is stopping the cassette from being removed. I'm afraid the tape would be damaged at that spot so you may as well simply snip it with a pair of long bladed scissors and the cassette will pull straight out.
What is then required is either the drive belt changed or the idler wheel assembly changed. Either way a service center will be required unless yourself or a friend is able to buy the parts (not expensive) and do the work required.
remove the battery and use the charger - press
eject button repeatedly , while plugging charger
in ( if mechanism is out of alignment , will
start to eject but reload immediately ) ;
A similar thing happened to me - I took it to panasonic service centre to fix and unbelievably the problem was that the HAND STRAP was quite tight (I have small hands and set it snug) and prevented the door from openeing just another milimetre more, and thus caused the carriage to 'jam'. Loosening the hand strap and opening the door allowed the tape carriage to move properly again. This was a great relief (although I still had to replace the carriage mechanism a few months later.....due to reset button message)
Did you find a solution? I've got the same problem with a NV-GS11. Thanks, DANIEL...
