Question about Panasonic NV-DS65 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
Hi, i just wanna check. i have this camera as mentioned above, and the tape drive wouldn't shut and it keeps making weird noise. the left tape head is like rolling, but there's this white mechanism that keeps tattering, like "tat-tat-tat". it will be great if you could figure out what's wrong with it. thanks...
That weird noise you are hearing is the mode motor trying to drive the mechanism. On these units, in order to engage play, fast forward, rewind, etc there is motor (called a mode motor) the drives the mechanism into the different "modes". There is also a mode sensing switch that tells the machine when it has reached a certain mode. What has likely happened is that the mode switch has failed for whatever reason, so the mode motor is being driven beyond the normal positions for the mechanism. The short answer is that you will probably have to have a technician look at it for you.
