SOURCE: WILL NOT PLAY IRON MAN OR KINGDGOM OF HE CRYSTAL SKULL, BUT IT PLAYS ALL OTHER BLU-RAY DISKS

Go to the wed site and download the latest Firmware update to your computer. It downloads as an image file. The use a disc burning software like Nero or Cyberlink's Power2Go and go to "Burn Image to Disc" and burn it on a regular CD-R. Insert that to your player after turning it on and let it do its thing, it will take a while so don't power down thinking it froze or it will mess up your player.
After the update is done, your player will re-start. You should now be able to watch the latest movies.
Be Warned! Even newer movies might have issues playing. That's normal, just give time for the manufacturer to release an even newer Firmware update to play them. Just one of the things we have to live with for the sake of 1080P.

your reading lense that reads your discs may me dirty or you may have dusty
or damaged disk. most likely your machine is dirty I would go to your local store

SOURCE: our blu-ray disc player bdp-s300 won't play newest blu-ray

You will need the following:
1) Internet connection
2) Wired router
3) long enough ethernet cable to reach from your blue ray player to the router.

Step 1:
Eject any disks and turn off the blu-ray player by unplugging it.

Step 2:
Attach the ethernet cable to the router and the other end to the ethernet port on the back of the blu-ray player.

Step 3:
Turn on the blu-ray player and wait for it to load all the way.

Step 4:
Using the remote, arrow over to the left to "Setup", the up to "Network Update".

Step 5:
After the unit updates and restarts, repeat until it tells you "Already Updated".

That should help you play the newer movies, and even some of the older ones.

SOURCE: Some blu-ray disks play on the sony bdp-s300 and

Cause walmart has parental discs. Some sort of censorship version. All there music cds delete or beep/blip the profanity out, so im pretty sure they get their movies with a certain level of parental control embedded. Make sure your parental control level on the sone BD player if set to play all. Basically no parental regional restrictions. Hope that help. If that doesnt. I suggest just not supporting Wal-Mart. They are NWO associated. And everything you buy there no matter hw insignificant have RFiDs embedded into them. Just a little FYI for ya. Google it. Its creepy stuff.

Sony BDP-BX2 Blu-Ray player now rejects valid discs as "invalid"

Sometimes the latest update IS the problem, not the solution. If possible go back to an earlier version and retry the disks. Many of the answers here about power down and the like are all good and sometimes helpful things to do. They also point to the fact there isn't much a consumer can do to fix or repair malfunctioning DVD/Blu-Ray players and it always comes down to cost. Do you want to repair or replace. You've had your unit, you say, about 3 years? I think this is about end of life. Anyway, try the previous software version and if that works turn automatic update off.

I recently bought this laptop and thought that it was able to play blu-ray movies. When I put a blu-ray in and push play, it say that there is no disk in player. Also, if all I have is a dvd player, can...

No disk means that the BR disk is not recognized as present . Don't push play, open Computer instead and see what the disk is labeled: if it appears as a DVD-RAM, you have to install a new BR player unit - the optical unit itself. If the disk appears with its name then the software player you were trying to use works only for dvd's, you need a BR one and the correct codec. You can get both from here

My samsung bd-p1500 blu-ray player won't play blu-ray discs on regular ones... was having all sorts of troubles with it finally updated the firmware and now it won't play any blu-ray discs

I'm having the same problem. had my Blu-ray and my cable box plugged into my reciever. Blu-ray kept cutting out and not finding a signal while watching my Rome DVDs. I swapped HDMI cables by just switch which cable went out of my blu-ray ( I didn't change what ports they were plugged into on the reciever. That cleared up that problem. I'd assume it was a faulty HDMI cable except that it works fine on the cable box. Anyways, we were watching Iron Man on Blue-Ray and it starts to skip about 2 thirds through the movie. Same as you I updated the firmware, disabled BC-Live, No luck Don't know if the problem is hte Bluray player , the reciever or what. Everything is up to date so I don't get it at all.

Can I play "A" (US) bluerays on my blueray player?

Is your Blu-Ray player rated to play "A" (US) disks? If you live in another country & purchased it at a store there, chances are low. Call tech support for your Blu-ray player & see what they have to say.
