Problem with monitor

When I shut down my system, the monitor that has always gone to black and turned off will now show it is turned off (light is orange) but screen is white and stays that way. I have to unplug the monitor to make the screen black.

Well, I have now been told by Dell, that it is not the monitor but the "motherboard" or graphics or video cards. I am going to have someone look at the. Per Dell, the monitor checks out fine.

Since the monitor is working normally other than turn off, I suggest plugging it into a power bar with switch. The pad switch is probably defective in the monitor.

SOURCE: monitor goes black 1 second after coming to full screen

I have 2 systems with the FPD1500 monitor. They worked fine until I applied

SP2. After SP2, they will not start. They come on OK, display the Windows

XP splash screen and then go into sleep mode when the system starts the

proper display mode before the Windows XP login screen is displayed. If I go

into safe mode and uninstall the video adaptor and restart the system, it

will start properly. After it comes up, it finds the video adaptor and

installs it and the session proceeds OK. I can reset the resolution and

number of colors to 1024x768 and Highest (32 colors) and things look fine.

However, when I restart the system, it hangs up after the Windows splash

screen and the monitor goes to sleep.

If I put it into VGA mode, it will come up OK. But once I change any

resolution or number of colors, it imediately goes to sleep.

I would appreciate any help you could offer.

SOURCE: Monitor goes to white at cpu shutdown

The problem is in the "soft switch" technology: On some of Sylvania's newer monitors they have incorporated what is called "soft switch" technology. This allows your ATX power supplied computer to turn your monitor on and off using it?s software controls. Therefore, your monitor?s light will always stay on blinking even when your computer is off. The monitor in normal operation consumes about 80W of power; in the "OFF" state it will be reduced below 8W. The "OFF" mode of the monitor can be controlled by the PC input signal or by pushing the soft-power button to disable the PC signal control for manually turning off the monitor screen. Thus, when the monitor is in soft-power "OFF" mode it still consumes a very small amount of power. For the purpose of making it noticeable to the user that the monitor is in soft-power "OFF" mode, we designed the power indicator to provide for a slow blinking signal (every 2 seconds). If you need to totally turn off the power, then the power cord would have to be unplugged. The same is true of the PC itself, but the PC does not provide for notification while in "OFF" mode. Your monitor looks like it may be in need of repair, contact info: PTI Technologies Inc. 7372 Doig Dr. Garden Grove, Ca 92841 Phone: 714-799-3899 Fax: 714-379-6290 Hours: Mon - Fri 8:00am to 6:00pm PST

SOURCE: starlogic 20 inch widescreen monitor screen keeps going black

This is probably a back light problem. Take a bright flashlight and while the monitor is on, point it at the LCD and try different angles, etc. If you can see an image, it is the back light, probably the back light voltage converter unit in the lcd. It could also be the back light bulbs.

If you don't see an image with the flash light, then it could be the main logic board.

SOURCE: Dell monitor shows blank screen, green power light stays on

Hello,

You have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitorswill blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts calledcapacitors overheating in the confined space of he monitor. If you aregood at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix he problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htmYou can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictues and your monitor should workfine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and -connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one thesame way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping. I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Possible disconnect of the wiring harness from the LCD to the motherboard? Might just need a new screen, but always check the simplest first. Flickering may imply faulty wiring or a lose connection in my opinion.

Do a hard reset by turning off the computer and removing the battery and unplug the AC adapter. Without any power source, press and hold the power button and put everything back after. Power on the computer again, if it does not work, try to connect your laptop to an external monitor. If it shows some display it means that the LCD monitor of your laptop has gone faulty.

My moniter display is not coming it alway show

You need to try this monitor on other PC to narrow down the problem, it can be the monitor, cable, PC. I f you try all the suggestions and it still does not work, then you need to open it up and see the pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
and check for shorted transistors or bad fuse.

Toshiba Satellite a215-s7437 will not boot at all - black screen

It sounds like two possible things. One thing may be that your screen is not working anymore. Can you get a monitor and plug it into your port located on the side of your laptop? If your screen pops up on the monitor this tells us your screen is either in need of replacement or a connection may be loose.

If that is not the case......

Another thing is your hard drive may not be initiating. If you feel confident enough I would open the back where the hard drive is located and make sure the hard drive is not loose. Does it give you any beeping sounds when you turn it on? Can you count the number of beeps? This will tell you what the problem is on boot up. Also, is it a black screen with a cursor blinking?
