I have a problem with the ice cube tray making ice when their is no need for it, as the drawer is filled to the brim with ice. Can anyone help.
This is due to the arm that controls the switch on the icemaker itself either being shorted or froozen in the toggled position. Usually the arm would lift as your ice container becomes full and shut the icemaker off until it reached a level where the switch would then toggle to the make ice position and then start makeing ice again. There are three 1/4" screws that hold the icemaker in place remove these screws unplug the icemaker and then use hot water to dethaw your ice maker for about 2-4 minutes after wards dry the icemaker then try reinstalling the icemaker if the problem persists replace the icemaker itself. If you have any further questions message me back I await your reply.
Thank you
Rick

In my Kitchen Aid bottom freezer there is a metal arm(?) that I lift up to stop the ice maker from making ice. When I start running low on ice, I push the metal arm(?) back down for it to make ice again. Hope this is the solution for your Kitchen Aid too.

there is a double valve at the back bottom lhs. check continuity of both valve coils but doubtfull this is the problem. the fault may be that the filling tube is frozen. try looking in this area

First give me the entire model # on the sticker from the inside of the fridge and I can definitely help you with this. Let's solve it before you rate it.

Colenoid in the ice dispenser may be clogged or have a small amount of trash in it. Is there a filter on before the fridge (just after the ice maker shutoff)?

remove cube tray from ice maker. clean with limeaway adn rinse. Spray with a light coating of PAM cooking spray. wipe dry and reinstall. be careful not to damage the sensor ( in center of tray)
