Remove main battery and turn on, next! check the power supply for correct voltage, if okay! sub the ram out one out a time and power on and repeat. If still no result, the DC jack in the laptop is a common issue, suggest a professional to assess.

SOURCE: My Toshiba Model L505-S5993 laptop won't read

Hello there,

The problem is that the Drives lens is already bad and cannot read any disc, no matter the type of disc you put into it, it wont read it still. The solution is to replace the drive. Replacing it is the best way to solve the problem. If not trying to replace the lens is going to be futile as the lens for the driver is not available and when you install a new disc drive, it will have to install the drivers software.

If you replace the lens, the laptop wont be able to install the drivers of the lens as it reads it alongside the driver itself and if they are not compatible, it wont install the drivers software. So my best advice is for you to replace the CD drive.

My laptop is a typical example because my disc drive is also bad. And i had to replace the drive and not the lens.

Hope this was helpful to you.
Goodluck

Overheated and won't restart. Any ideas?

Check to see if your laptop has an option for fan speed control, if it does, increase the rpm's.
Id doesn't be careful, you may have a bad collong fan, if that's the situation STOP using the laptop until you replace the cooling fan.

The drivers for the hardware don't exist for windows 8. You need to format. turn on holding the 0 key. follow steps to set to factory defaults, save your pictures and documents first cause this will erase them.

Toshiba Satellite L505-LS5014 made a popping noise and then turned off. It had done this 10 minutes before but this time it won't turn on. Any ideas on what's the problem and how to fix it?

The problem may be in the DC jack in the laptop, sometimes solder touch up or DC jack replacement is required. the computer will need to be dismantled down to the motherboard level to address this.

My Toshiba L505 ES5018 FN keys is not working

Hello. It's possible the driver for the wireless card(network interface controller) was not installed properly. Try to download the drivers from Toshiba website and install on your laptop. You may get the WiFi Driver from this link
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2520800&rpn=PSLU0U&modelFilter=L505-ES5018&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663

There's two WiFi Driver available, try to use the Realtek first and if it doesn't work try the Atheros. If WiFi driver installed correctly you should no longer see the "!" symbol and you will be able to enable wireless on your laptop using FN key combination.

Hope this works for you.

Need users manual

Hi,

There are 16 different Satellite L505 models. There is a number after L505, like "L505-6826"

Go to this page and at the top of the page is product support. Choose "laptop computer > satellite > then your model number. There is an online manual that you can read from their web site, or download it to your computer. Here's the link (if link is not active, copy and paste into your browsers address bar): http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp#

Hope this helps.
