Grainy pictures at night

Graininess can be caused by a high ISO setting while taking pictures in low light situations. You could also have the picture quality set to a low megapixel setting.

Grainy photos is due to high ISO that is needed to capture photos in low light. The solution to that problem is to use flash.
Blur in low light would be due to a long shutter speed in an attempt to capture enough light to get a properly exposed photo. Again, the solution here is to use flash.
Auto mode with flash on is just fine in this situation-- you could also try night mode if you wish.

If you are taking pictures in low-lighting conditions without flash, then the pictures will appear grainy. Set the ISO to a lower number (try ISO-100 to start with) and use the flash to compensate for low-light conditions.
This should improve the grainy appearance of your photos.

The grainy effect has to do do with the ISO setting, try adjusting that. A higher ISO is generally better for darker conditions. I have noticed that this camera frequently takes grainy images.

You might have changed the settings; ISO setting too high or something else, just reset it to factory settings if you can't figure out ISO.

Single chip DLP projectors use a spinning color wheel between the lamp and the DMD (mirror chip) to produce colors. If the wheel rotation/synchronization is disturbed, colors will not be displayed correctly.
In my case it looks like the wheel became un-synchronized, probably because the projector was dusty/dirty inside (a light senor is used to detect the wheel position), resulting in a grainy, slightly flickering image.
I simply blew out the components with a can of 'Dust-off' and, using a small tool, rotated the color wheel by hand to make sue it wasn't rubbing or jammed.
I reassembled & started the projector and the image was back to normal.

If you can adjust the ISO sensitivity to a lower number then the graininess will be reduced.

However, by reducing the ISO, you will need a slower shutter speed and a larger aperture. A tripod, table or other support may be necessary.

The "noise reduction" setting on the camera can also be adjusted a step up.

Taking pictures at full resolution and fine compression will also help.

Overall, at least try lowering the ISO, and using the flash brighter.

grainy pictures are possibly casued by a very high ISO (sensativity) setting, you should be on 100 or lower for best normal shots. Higher settings are for low light and custom shooting in strange lighting or aperature/shutter speeds. Try full auto setting.

Symptoms are not related,what you hear is the high voltage turning on and that is normal if it only does it for less than a second,the grainy picture might be intermitant,dont turn it off,when the picture is grainy tap the side of the set to see if it racts and if it does you know you have a loose conection.This could be outside because of a loose ground on tha cable or inside in the tuner.
