Automatic two sided printing module missing msg

I do not want to do two sided printing and have never had an accessory for doing this. I printed my tax form out of turbotax yesterday and got the error msg in the title for the first time. I printed one sided and every other page is upside down and in the wrong order. Since then, I get the msg on PDFs that I print and they all print the same way (every other page upside down and out of order). I've tried fixing settings, but nothing appears to be wrong.

Are you using Windows or a Mac System?

  • wookyluvr Mar 17, 2012

Hi -- thanks for the responses. I am not sure any of them are going to work for me.
To Bob H: I am running Windows 7 64 bit (not Vista) and I am NOT trying to print duplex. I'm actually printing single-sided and every other page is coming out upside down and one page out of order. Like page 2 prints upside down and then page 1 prints. Page 4 prints upside down and then page 3 prints. I print long PDFs on a regular basis, so this is quite an annoyance for me.

To Doc: I can't find a "shortcuts" page. Here's what I have done. From Windows start menu, I choose control panel, devices and printers and I click on this printer. Under "Customize your printer" I choose the "Device settings" tab and under "Installable Options" I have the following:
    Duplex Unit [Not Installed]
    Automatic Configuration [Off']
    Allow Manual Duplexing [Enabled]
Activate the Hardware Auto-off feature: [No]

To Nikhil: Hi and thanks... I am not techy at all and have no idea what you are saying to do. :-) I will say that the printer is plugged directly into the PC and it has been working fine for over a year. This is a new issue that only came up when I tried to print out of Turbotax and this seemed to cause a problem with printing PDFs. It appears to only be a problem when I'm printing PDFs.

Oh, that makes me wonder if it is an Acrobat issue? I downloaded an Adobe update around the same time the problem started.

  • wookyluvr Mar 17, 2012

That was it! It was a box for 2-sided printing checked (maybe automatically in Turbotax?) in the acrobat print box and I hadn't noticed it. Problem solved. Thank you everyone!

The following describes how to upgrade firmware in the LaserJet 2400, P3005 and 5200 Series Printers using a USB connection only.

Right click on the printer you need to send the upgrade to and then choose Sharing.
On WinXP, if you encounter the following link "If you understand the security risks but want to share printers without running the wizard, click here.", click the link.
Select "Just enable printer sharing" and click OK .
Select Shared As: ("Share this printer" on WinXP) and type a name for the share.
Click Apply and write down the share name as it will be needed later.
To send the firmware upgrade using a USB connection:

(To open a Command Prompt inWindows 2000 or XP, go to the Start button, then choose run, then type CMD and hit Enter, in Windows 98 or ME, go to the Start button, Programs, Accessories, then choose MSDOS Prompt). This will bring up a small black screen as displayed below:
If connected to a USB port, Type: copy /b filename \computer nameshare name (for example, copy /b ozfw.rfu \computer1printer).
Press ENTER .
The control panel displays receiving upgrade followed by performing upgrade . The download may take several minutes.
The control panel displays processing job .
The download is complete when the printer reboots and "READY" message is displayed on the control panel.

SOURCE: HP Officejet 7210 All-In-One printer two-sided printing

Had the same issue with an Officejet 7210.

Basically, what the printer is trying (not very well) to tell you is that it is not capable of handling the entire two sided printing project automatically - which for reasons that are completely obscure is the default setting for two sided print jobs - way to go HP!

To solve the problem, open up the printer's properties window (or preferences depending on your approach). On the printing shortcuts page, you should find a drop-down menu entitled Print on Both Sides. This drop down should read 'Automatic' (which indicates that the printer will print the first side, flip and reload the paper and print the other side without any intervention - yeah, riight). Simply change this setting to 'Manual' and the problem is solved!

Happy printing!

Unless you did it by an online subscription, only by keeping all the tickets and filing them. Never heard of lottery tickets being tax deductible and highly doubt they are unless you have your own business and gave them as incentive gifts, and then you buy them on a company credit card and submit the statements.

How do I view my tax forms

Sorry, I don't see enough information to answer this question. But in general if you used any kind of online service to file your taxes they are also likely to have a copy of your taxes available if you signon to the same URL.
If that doesn't help you need to contact whoever it is you filed your taxes through to get a copy of the filing.
I know that both HR Block and TurboTax keep copies of the information. If you have used a "file for free" service I am less certain that they will keep a copy or let you have access to a copy. When I filed for free using Turbotax I specifically printed off a copy of my tax forms because they said I wouldn't have access to them otherwise. When I have paid Turbotax they have kept a copy of my taxes. And I know that HR Block makes every effort to keep old tax filings.

I completed my 2010 taxes last week, but did not submit to the IRS. Yesterday could not even open Turbotax - or run Turbotax. Have no idea where my completed tax work is! I'm resigned to spending 3h...

You can shutdown your computer and turn it back on,and log back in again. Click on start and all program, and turbo tax to see if it works. Your tax work file should still in in turbo tax folder in your C drive. Try shutdown and turn it back on first to see and let me know, and we can go from there.
Thanks

I can only print the 941 form in quickbooks. Nothing else.

Open QuickBooks and go to file at the top left of the screen. Click on it. This will give you a drop down list. Choose "printer set up". This will give you a list of forms. Choose the name of the form you want to be able to print while in QuickBooks and this will take you to an area to choose your default printer. Click the arrow next to the name of the printer you want to use to print your forms and then save and close the window.

HP 3030 printer

Nobody likes giving bad news, but removing power from the printer while in operation has a very good chance of damaging the cirucitry of the printer.

Next time, simply open the paper tray, which will cause an error light to come on and the print job will stop. Or hit the cancel button on top of the printer. Either way, after that you can turn the power switch off, unplug the power, and then cancel the print job from your computer if the print icon is still present on the bottom right corner of your screen.

You may be able to bring the printer to a service technician to repair the problem, but it might not be fixable at this point.

Trouble printing a thicker form

Hi,
I have come accross this problem on a number of sites. It may be the Paper Out sensor. It works by emitting light from one half of the sensor reflectiong it of the paer and picking it up with the other half of the sensor. When no paper is present, the light cannot reflect and hense a paper out error is reported. I have seen this error occur when paper with dark backing ( like that for bank and tax forms ) is used.
