If you already tried a second battery with no luck, you'll need to have it serviced. If the camera is over a year, the manufacturers warranty is up. If that's the situation, go to this site www.camerasandparts.com All they deal with are Canon Powershot cameras and they do excellent work, the best part is they are much cheaper than Canon. They do really great work on the Canons. That's were a lot of people go for help with the Powershot models.

I don't have a solution, but I have the same problem. I found one posting elsewhere that said that this was a "common" problem. That person's camera was under warranty. Mine isn't, but it's less than 2 years old.

Your problem is likely due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera and give them a full charge (assuming that you're using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may be due for replacement, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Hi,
Check whether your batteries are actually making contact with the battery posts, and that these posts are clean. If not, bend the posts up/down a little, and maybe clean them with a little rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip. Or if that does'nt work our for you , if your camera uses Compact Flash, check to make sure all pins are present and aligned in the card slot (if bent, simply unbend/straighten them with a skinny "jewelers" screwdriver, then insert the flash card for final realignment).
Thank you !!

That's a loose screw issue inside the G7 and the G9 that is common. The best place I know to get help for that one would be camerasandparts.com They just specialize in the powershots and they are awesome if you need help with one of these. Best of luck, they have your exact G7 no power problem right there on their site. I hope that helps.
