Look at the memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

I recommend against deleting images on the card via your computer. If you want to delete a few pictures, do it from the camera. If you want to delete all of them, format the card in the camera instead. FixYa is full of people asking how to salvage pictures from cards which have undergone repeated write/delete cycles without formatting.

The speed of the card has a lot to do with the number of pics taken in burst mode. I would recommend a class 6 or better.

Remove the batteries for 60 seconds, at the same time press power and hold for the juration of the time, this will remove residual voltage and reset the processor ic, "long shot" if no change the zoom part of the lens is malfunctioning, the zoom motor or gears are jammed.

You haven't to configure the your pc to download the photos, you need only the usb cable, usually provided with the camera; the cd is for the software of the Lumix to view and edit videos or photos, but you can use any other software you want.
