If it is under warranty send it to dyson. the plastic is way to cheep to do any repairs yourself you will end up breaking something. if it is out of warranty i would try and see i the store you bought it from will exchange it. i know its not the solution you were looking for but dyson vacuums are under powered to begin with and they use substandard plastic. the only metal part on the entire vacuum is in the motor itself. everything else is plastic.

When I go to vsacuum carpets I have a loud squalling sound. I replaced belt and still have noise, very loud

Does it make the squeeling noise if you run it without the brushroll or belt installed ? That would indicate a bad motor bearing. Try that, then take it to your local vac shop for help.

Our dyson vaccum is making a loud noise when we vaccum. (other than the normal loud noise) it is a dyson 23 plus..

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your DC23 Plus. You might find it helpful to wash the pre-motor filter, and to check the cleaner for blockages. You can find a step-by-step guide showing how to do this in the Support section of our website:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1276&product=DC23-PLUS

You should find that this resolves the issue. However, if you've tried this and you're still concerned about the noise, please get in touch with us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON. We can run through some troubleshooting over the phone, and provide the assistance you need.

Kind regards,

Machine is making loud sound, not normally heard. Looking for a local service provider.

You might be able to save yourself some money and do it yourself. When it makes loud noises like that it usually indicates that there is an issue with the brush roll and/or belt. Try cleaning out the roller brush and replace the belt. You can get a replacement belt here:

Dyson Makes a loud noise like something is impeding the

I would try changing the belt. Even though the belt may look fine it can be stretched or worn and that can cause loud noises. You can get dyson belts here:

A loud grinding noise happens in the tilted/unlocked position. This noise can be heard when running over the fringe of an area carpet. What causes that noise?

Hi there it's SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. It is the clutch of the brush activating. It is designed to stop the brush from chewing up curtains etc. If it is too sensitive it is either a faulty clutch, worn brush bearings or the end caps of the brush are full of dirt and muck. If you take off the bottom cover and lift up the brush the black caps on the ends can be removed and cleaned. If this doesnt fix the problem then it is the clutch or brush itself. I can help you with either of these problems but I would rather you try this first (im a bad typer). I can get any parts at all for the Dyson machines so if you need anything just ask on my website contact me page. Hope this helps!. Happy Vacuuming :)
