Base system missing

Is this in Device Manager? Did you notice this after the Win 7 upgrade? If so , it's a common problen when upgrading, Is that the only issue? Your Card Reader work? Modem? Co-processor? I have a HP Pavilion DV9320us I loaded Win 7 64bit Ultimate on with similar issues, modem, co-processor, card reader, etc. Use the Win Vista drivers, modify the drivers for Win 7. HP drivers found here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=ca&dlc=en&jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001&lc=en&product=3548477& AND change compatibility of drivers , This will give you the general idea: http://www.techsupportforum.com/4478-installing-a-device-driver-under-compatibility-mode-in-windows-7/

I recently purchased a new computer JP Pavilion

Here is the link for your printer:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=239&modelid=8152#DownloadDetailAct

Choose your OS, where it lists the driver click on that link and then agree to the terms. It has drivers for windows 7 and drivers for vista. If the windows 7 driver doesn't work then choose the vista driver. If neither work then your printer is outdated for the OS that your running.

First check the System requirements The following list describes the recommended minimum hardware requirements for basic functionality of the different editions of Windows Vista. Actual hardware requirements vary, depending on system configuration and on the programs and the features that you install. If you install Windows Vista over a network, additional hard disk space may be required.

Windows Vista Home Basic

  • 512 megabytes (MB) of system memory
Note On system configurations that use system memory as graphics memory, at least 448 MB of system memory must be available to the operating system after some memory is allocated for graphics.
  • DirectX 9-class graphics card
  • 32 MB of graphics memory
  • 20-gigabyte (GB) hard disk that has 15 GB of free hard disk space
  • Internal or external DVD drive

Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, and Windows Vista Ultimate

It seems not compatible

Please confirm are you using Windows Vista 32 bit or 64 bit

To determine product compatibility status , we looked at whether:
  • The product has earned the Certified for Windows Vista, Works with Windows Vista, or Games for Windows logo, which indicates that it has been tested for compatibility.
  • The device manufacturer or software publisher states Windows Vista support for the product.

I recently purchased a HP Pavilion computer with Windows Vista. I am trying to install my HP Office Jet 6310XI printer and I am receiving a message that the printer is not compatable with the computer

Your printer driver probably isn't compatible with Windows Vista. I would check the HP website and see if they have an updated driver for your printer.
