Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. In some cases, the remote control might need to clean.

You'll most likely need a Sansui remote made to work with your specific model TV. I have similar problems with my Toshiba TV. Check eBay.

The direct mini did not freeze the tv. It's a coincidence. Your TV needs repair. Unfortunately insignia tvs have a reputation for problems like this.

Sanyo LCD TV no picture or sound with directTV

If the Direct TV box is working with other TVs, the problem is in the connection to the TV. In many TVs the automatic sensor works to detect what is being plugged in. In some, it has to be selected through the menu.

Remote control codes

Go to Best Buy and buy the DirectTV Universal Remote Control ($20 and works with all cable and satellite services) Model RC64. It will control all the functions on the Olevia TV and Satellite box, except the A-B-C-D buttons for the User Guide.

The remote codes are:

RCA Satellite Box - 00392

Olevia 237-T12 - 11610
