Just a simple problem really. The channel number and time (time isn't set though) displays are forever present at the top right and top left of the TV respectively. Just wondering how to get rid of them because they are very frustrating when watching TV and playing PS2! I have lost the remote as this TV was purchased a long time, so I don't know where to start. Someone please help me, as it has been driving me crazy for years! Thanks.
Wow, thanks everyone for such quick replies! I couldn't find any people I knew with Sony remotes remarkably so I ordered a cheap one off Amazon, and hope to have the problem sorted soon =DWow, thanks everyone for such quick replies! Thats the one I bought. I'm unable to get you a photo right now but top 3 buttons are TV/AV, Mute and On/Off. A few other buttons but none appear to be working. I'm starting to realise that its probably because it's not exclusively a Sony Remote =[ If this is the case, could you suggest the cheapest one you can think of that I could get and would do the job? Thanks!
Sorry to be such an incompetent idiot but I've now got the RM-W100 remote that you suggested but the purchase didn't come with instructions on how to synchronise the remote with the TV, do you know how? You need Sony TV Remote and press Display button on remote and On-Screen Display will disappear. Check TV remote in neighbors, friends etc to use once.
It is not necessary to use remote of same tv model, just use any Sony TV model remote. It is not necessary to use remote of same tv model, just use any Sony TV model remote.
If you got Sony TV remote then Display button would be on it. Mostly this button in top row near Mute button and marked with " i " or square box etc.If you got Sony TV remote then Display button would be on it. Mostly this button in top row near Mute button and marked with " i " or square box etc.

Above said Remote is original / supplied part for your Sony TV KV-21CL10 and it doesn't require any synchronization to function. Just press Display button on remote so on-screen display will disappear.

I do not believe that such a device exists, however I do have some options for you:
1) get a magnifying window to put in the corner where the number is to magnify that section for your father.
2) Have TV repair shop install a signal to voice converter to take the number generated signal and convert it to a voice so that way the changing of the channel will be heard as a voice as opposed to a number.
3) Have the number geometry changed by a TV repair shop with the ability to reprogram the EEPROM that controls the number generation circuit.
I hope these suggestions give you some idea of what is possible.
the tac switches have gone bad.this happens from age or sometimes from washing the screen of the set and moisture gets on the.. it is not a big job but it does involve soldering skills
if you have the manua for the universal remote that you are using it the button that displays current channel on the tv or the one that say jump. flashback or channel return might be bottom R corner of the remote or a small button on either side of the zero button
If you see only snow and the words "NO SIGNAL" are displayed, and you know that you have the set hooked up to a good signal and the TV is set to the right channel, it means that your tuner has stopped working and needs to be replaced. First, though, make sure your signal is good. A good way to test this is to hook the TV to a good VCR, put in a good pre-recorded tape and hit play. Tune the TV to channel 3 (or 4) and if it is still all snow, have the tuner replaced by a qualified tech.
