I have tried many things to install XP over vista but no success! I always get blue screen of death. I installed XP on same HD but in other computer and it worked just fine but as soon as I put it back in original notebook i got same blue screen on XP sturtup.
HP F.05 BIOS can't disable native SATA mode for HD. I want to flash BIOS but I don't know which should I use and which version is suported by motherboard, and I have never done it before as well.
HP pavilion dv5-1002nr
AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-70, 2.0 Ghz
3 GB RAM
250 GB HD WDC WD 25 00BEVS-60UST0 SCSI
Motherboard 30F2 Hewlett-Packard
BIOS name Default system BIOS
SMBIOS Version F.05
OS Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit Version 6.0.6001
Make new xp with nlite software and inbuilt achi and ICH9 driver. then try to install xp.
I dont think flashing the bios is advisable unless you have had virus damage.
Your not an advanced user so dont do it, let an expert do it or a pc shop.
Now your answer is easy, downgrading a windows installation is not possible, unless
you wipe the harddrive, harddrive utility will work you can get it here:
http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
The other idea you can also do is turn off laptop, remove battery, romove ram sticks
and let it sit for about 10 min or so. Now put them back in and run the harddrive utility
after finished, you should beable to run xp now.
The problems with downgrading from vista to any other windows, You will probably not beable to find
drivers for the pc, this will be a major problem, manufactures havent been making drivers for
downgrades. And the most important thing here is you will not have sound. So just so you are aware
of this before you do it. I highly recommend not to downgrade the pc. If it was built for Vista then vista
it will be. Vista is in another class of windows then the other windows before it.
Do it at your own risk!
You should also try with just 1 ram memory stick installed when doing a fresh install of windows on a computer so as to avoid unneccesary BSOD`s or errors that really dont exist., because if 2 or more sticks of ram are installed then they are sharing information back and forth between each other while files are being installed to the harddrive, this is what causes errors and BSOD`s also or can cause them.

Hi,
I have a DV5-1104AX laptop with AMD Turion x64 RM70, with 320GB Fujitsu SCSI (SATA) hard drive, 3GB RAM and 512 MB ATI Graphics card. It came loaded with Vista Premium 32 bit. I am trying to install Windows 2003 Server for my education purpose but am not able to do so because i get BSOD when trying to install drivers which i found from internet (these drivers were meant for laptops with AMD). I tried installing the drivers using an external floppy drive. I cannot disable the SATA native mode in my BIOS. Please give me a solution since i am losing time and effort over this issue and my education is lagging......
Thanks
