Double picture When you first turn on tv you see double image. When it first started after 5 min. it cleared up. Now it takes 1.5 hours too clear up, so I leave tv on 24/7.

Symptom shows problem with lcd panel (screen) however, t-con board that is part of lcd panel could be defective and cause of these symptoms.
T-Con board is located at top center of cld panel at rear and would be covered with metal shield. There are three type of t-con board utilized according to lcd panel and are available in shopjimmy.com
Please check what t- con board is similar with your tv board to order it. If you are not handy with electronics stuff repair then local tv repairman will help you to replace t-con board that might solve your tv picture problem.

Press stop/clear pad to remove 88:88 from the display.

Press auto start once for 12 hour clock and twice for 24 hour clock.

Enter hours first using 10 minute and 1 minute pad (i.e. for 12:00 - press 10 min button once and 1 minute button twice)

Press auto start.

Enter minutes as before using 10 min pad and 1 minute pad (i.e. for 35 mins press 10 min button 3 times and 1 min button 5 times)

Press auto start.

I have seen this before--This set uses 2 convergence chips--usually they are STK-392-120 CHIPS--sometimes they will be flaky when cold--both chips need to be replaced and the set adjusted.

You can buy both chips on Ebay with shipping for less than 20 dollars. The chips are located on (usually) two metal heat sinks side by side and are about 2 1/2 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches tall---they will be black and have the STK number printed on them in white. If you open the set and locate them confirm the number that is printed on them.

Sooner or later if you keep using the set this way it will damage other parts around the chips.

MOST shops charge 300-400 for this kind of repair; I have done hundreds of these sets here for about 200-250 including parts, labor, house call.

If you cannot do the repair yourself look for someone in your area to do it--takes about an hour and any good tech can do it right in your house.

Make sure whoever you get to do it changes BOTH CHIPS--if not you will soon have the same kind of trouble again.

my westinghouse has the exact same problem....i have noticed it will catch sometimes when the screen changes from one picture to another that is totally different and one right after another......

sounds like a cold solder joint in the tuner circuitry. Unless you can do it yourself it's probably not going to be worth the repair bill.

replace the convergence ICs you can get replacement ICs at the following link with free installation instructions. Use two STK392-150 ICs they are good durable ICs for your model,

There maybe some loose components on the circuit and that needs resoldering. Bring it to the repair shop to done.

what is model number of your Sony tv to provide you info about foggy picture problem.

May be a little late, but... 1. Press Power Level button for approx 5 seconds - you get the 12 hour clock 2. Press again for 24 hour clock 3. Set hours using the 10 min and 1 min buttons 4. Press Power level button 5. Set minutes using the 10 min and 1 min buttons 6. Press Power level button And you are done
