I have a baby gaggia and the steamer is fine but the water hardly come throught to make the coffee. i have been de-scaling it and at one point half way through the process the water started to run faster but then it slowed again and its still the same. any ideas?
First question:Are the rest of the machine still working correctly?
Second question:How was the waterflow before descalling?
Here are short description on how most of these machines work.
It will have a cold water reservoir for filling with cold water with some sort of water full sensor, it will then be followed with a high pressure pump.which are used to fill the boiler. After the boiler it will then go out to your to disspencers.in your case the steamer and one for coffee. The outlet at the boiler will propably be split in two by using valves.
To come back to your problem i assume it had a waterflow probleme before you descalled. When you are descaling your machine their are some times pieces of scale that is not propably disolved by the descaling process which will get stuck in the pipe work acting as a valve
causing waterflow problemes.
The other probleme might be that your water dispencers valve might be faulty either by a poor supply(power) or the sollenoid is starting to size up.
Just switch of the machine when taking of any covers you are working with water and electricity which do not mix well
SOURCE: no water coming through but steamer working
I have the same problem with Gaggia Baby Dose. there is no water coming through the coffee filter but the steamer is still working. And the shower screen is cleen. Also machine has strange sound.
SOURCE: My Gaggia Swing is leaking from the steamer -
This just the Teflon pipe which a lock in metallic union by only a clip and seal by one 'o' ring. So if you disassemble the machine by removing first the top panel and work the machine you will very easily see the leaking point and you may just want to put the clip back in place. If you will ever need any spare parts now or in future you can visits partsguru.com So if your good in DIY then we strongly advice to go on you will realise that is more easy that you imagine. Just be extra safe when you will work without the top coven since there are live wires with 120V but if you are extra safe you don't have to worry. You can just look when the plug is on and if you want to touch anything remove the plug first. You can do this million of times but never touch anything with plug on.
SOURCE: I have a Gaggia "coffee" and no water goes through
Remove the 2 allen wrench screws under the screw and screen, this will drop the diffuser, careful do not loose spring and plastic ball that is in there. Then run machine without parts in place to check if water goes through. If yes replace parts minus screen and screw and test, it taht works insert screen and screw and test.
