You're on a laptop and it's talking about a sound card?

If you can hear audio or the voice from the caller then you don't need a sound card.

Yes you can purchase an external mic and it just plugs into the mic port on your system. I think that might be why the caller can't hear you. All computers do not come with a built in microphone. And if you are skyping and using a web cam, all web cams don't have a built in microphone.

Does the Sony VAIO VGN-NR385E have an internal mic? How do I find out? Also, I've heard about people complaining about it not being plugged in internally. How do you rectify this?

It appears that this unit does not come with a built-in mic and relies on an external mic being plugged into it for audio input. It is sold as a low-end or "Budget" machine and doesn't have many "bells and whistles".

When I yous voice call on the skype...the people that I talked with doesn't hearing me

your microphone may not be turned on or the volume needs to be turned up on your microphone. your laptop may not have a microphone. right click on the sound icon on the bottom right side of your computer and select recording devices set the volume on your mic at least 75% and speak into your mic hole. goodluck

Vaio VGN-NW23SE no built in microphone indicator

your computer has a built monaural microphone. check your sound settings to make sure the mic is on. if the mic is on and there still isn't any sound on the other end then you might try an external mic. they work better as far as quality anyway.

Is the sony vaio vgn-nr120e a 64-bit?

Hi, the processor of the this model Vaio is Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2310. This is a 64bit processor which means that it should support a 64 bit operating system. Whether it will come with a 64 bit operating sysem, depends on your order.
Here are two links with the processor specifications and the Vaio specifications:

If you already have one, you can check if it is a 32bit or 64 bit by clicking on: Start/right click Computer and select properties.

I have a Sony VAIO VGN-FZ220E. The person I talk to on Skype can not hear me and Skype gives me a message that my microphone is silent. I go to Control Panel/ Audio and look at "Recording Devices" and...

The unavailable device could be the mic jack for the external mic. Try going into the skype options menu and select the mic audio there. It will also test it at the same time. Good Luck
