There are three main reasons that the Blu-ray player keeps skipping Blu-ray disc:
1. The disc is damaged or broken.
2. The region codes of Blu-ray disc and Blu-ray player are different.
3. The Blu-ray player is broken.
For the first two reasons, you can create a new copy of your Blu-ray discs. Leawo Blu-ray Copy is one of the best Blu-ray copy software to copy and back up Blu-ray/DVD/ISO files to hard drive or blank Blu-ray/DVD disc. Plus, it can also remove the region code and copy protection from your Blu-rays and DVDs.
For the latter reason, you can first download the latest firmware from its official website. If it fails, you may change another Blu-ray player.
Hello Thank you for choosing FixYa.com for your answers my name is David.
If it takes it a while to read sounds like one of 2 things or a combonation.
your reading lense that reads your discs may me dirty or you may have dusty
or damaged disk. most likely your machine is dirty I would go to your local store
and ask them for advice on the best type cleaning disc for the blu ray player
walmart has decent prices for that sort of thing good luck and thank you again for choosing FixYa.com
It is possible a average player needs to be cleaned around every 10 hours of play typically
with hours of use dust particles can build up on the cd lense causing it not to read properly
cleaning it is worth a try but if that doesnt work if its only 3 weeks old you should be able to return it for a new one depending on where you got it.It is possible a average player needs to be cleaned around every 10 hours of play typically

You may need to update your firmware on your player. I have the same issue and realized my firmware was version 4.20 and 5.20 is the current one. I am updating as we speak.
You can try using a BRD lens cleaner to clean the blue ray lens, but with a Sony blue ray it is better to call Sony first, as using this kind of equipment may affect your warranty status.
Call Sony at the number listed on the owners manual and describe the problem. Alternatively see Sony Global - "Contact Us"
It sounds like you need the firmware upgrade for your BDP-S300. You can download it from Sony's website, burn it to a disc and load the disc to upgrade your player.
try cleaning the lens first.then load a disk.try a different disc like VCD, CD etc.if only the DVD's are not read, the lens and the mainboard itself is faulty.but, if after cleaning it, it goes ok ,then its just dirty.
check with different Blu-ray discs and DVD discs. If the issue occurs only with some discs, then try updating the Firmware for the Blu-ray Player which should resolve the issue. Contact the Sony support team to get more information about the Firmware update for the Player.
