I have this problem with my monitor,i have been using the computer for how many hours and then all of a sudden the monitor turns off automatically.. then a small square message turns on and that says POWER SAVE and then a sign that says on or off.. i tried going to the power settings and changed all four to "never" but then it still happens.. i try to restart the computer but it still shows the same message.. what should i do?
It's possible that the ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Management Interface) is not enabled in the bios. To access the bios either press F2 or DEL, depending on the motherboard(usually tells you on the initial boot screen), then look for a line that reads 'Power Management Setup' or similair and press ENTER. When into the menu check to see if ACPI is reading enabled, if not press the right arrow on your keyboard then either press PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN or + or - on the keyboard. Press 'ESC' then it will ask if you if you want to save changes, press'Y'. That should sort it.

I have an HP vs17 monitor with the same problem. I called HP and they said that there is no warranty on their monitors and that this is a common problem. They went on to say that it is the same cost to replace this monitor as it is to repair it. I tried turning down the resolution, auto adjusting the monitor, setting it to the native resolution of 1280x1024 @ 60Hz, replacing all cables, tweaking the video settings, moved it to another computer and none of it helped. I even took the dam thing apart and checked the Ohms reading on the fuse inside, it was good. Nothing looked or smelled burned/broken. This thing is just malfunctioning...something to do with the power save feature I think.
