We purchased a Sony Handycam DCR-TRV310 in California for a trip to Australia in October 1999. It functioned normally for several years, even after we moved back to the UK. However, we recently tried to play back some of our tapes and the image on the screen (and on our TV, which plays both NTSC and PAL videos) is coming out in black and white and distorted. We have the same image problem when we connect the Handycam to our US television, so we are inclined to think that this is not a NTSC vs. PAL problem. The problem also occurs if we try to shoot a "live" image, so it's definitely not a problem with our Hi-8 tapes. We're not sure if this problem is related to the CCD (image sensor) defect posted by others, given that our Camcorder was purchased prior to the 2002-2004 period for which the CCD defect has been identified. A more pressing problem is that we are not sure whether we can get support for our Handycam here in the UK. Can someone please advise us as to what we should do? Many thanks Melody McLaren
